I know nothing about the man, but he certainly must have had balls the size of church bells. I respect that.
Ray Holmes, a World War II fighter pilot who rammed a German plane to prevent a direct hit on Buckingham Palace, died on Monday in Wirral, in northwest England. He was 90.
His death followed a two-year battle with cancer, said his wife, Anne.
Mr. Holmes, a pilot from 504 Squadron who was a sergeant at the time, spotted a German Dornier bomber lining up to attack the palace on Sept. 15, 1940, and, finding he had run out of ammunition, slammed into the bomber, slicing off its tail
