CTF / BR exploits ...

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

In case you did not notice that there is an exploit in CTF / BR .
Received by mail a temp. fix until the next patch is developed.
As Joe confirmed we can make it public, so here it is :

Attached is a better fix until we release the next patch. This is a
tiny server side actor that will detect the usage of the hack and fix
the exploit as it happens. It also logs the cheater so please feel free
to send abuse@epicgames.com the GUID's of people caught using it so we
can get rid of them.

It should be compatible with all versions of UT2K4 and all mods. Just
follow the installation directions in the CTFFix.txt file located in the
archive.

This is needed on ANY CTF or BR server. I'll make an announcement as
soon as some people are running it and there aren't any unforeseen
problems.

It's probably ok to announce it. I'd rather it was tested more but this is a pretty crappy exploit that needs to be closed. Feel free to give it to other people.

And yes, it should be used for VCTF as well.

I'm not hosting a server, but no, I haven't noticed anything wrong in CTF or BR. What exploit are you talking about?
The included text file doesn't give any deeper detail on the situation.

Are you sure the source is relyable? (meaning: is it confirmed that it is indeed Wilcox that's sending the mail?)

Yeah it's Joe sending it, it from the UT servers mailing list after all. :c

The exploit is kinda wacky. There's a way to make the flags dissapear fromt he map so no team can score. :/

2nd : To explain what kind of exploits are we talking about would be suicide :)

If I would say in public "You could open the door by using the credit card when you put it there and there" .. guess what ? Some people would try to use a decent lock .. some people will get their credit card :)

That wouldn't be spamming, but informing what the problem is.

Also, I didn't ask for instructions on how to reproduce the exploit, but rather what the problem was (JohnDoe's info would have been enough...I've heard about that exploit at FragBU last night).

Oh, and does that mean Epic's going to release another patch? I thought 3355 was the final one...

They need to bring out another one, there is a bug in the spectater mode. I won't talk about it here otherwise it will be off-topic.

Pfff, there are bugs like that all over. Unfortunately, almsot all map bugs can not be/ are no fixed by patches, the exception being AS-Junkyard.
