Ok, finaly got UT2k4 & UW running on Linux (Mandrake 10.1 Offical). Installed the latest Nvidia driver also. Everything looks great & runs fine except 1 thing in UW.... When I use turbo, the screen goes white. This only happens while I'm useing the turbo, then back to normal when I let off the turbo. I tried lowering the settings, but no luck. Any Ideas????

No way around that unfortunately. The motion blur is buggered on more systems than it seems to work on.
I've removed the blur effect for the next version...

AARGH NO!!!
A lot of people like the motion blur, hell it works for me on my "good" comp.
Why not just add a setting to the graphics menu to enable/disable it now you're using -mod suppport?

I agree, I liked the motion blur effect and would rather not loose it if possible. I would follow the above suggestion.

Word... i think it also helps level it out a bit too as you sort of have to do an ounce of thinking when using it. :)

I agree, leave the motion blur in. I use the same system for windoze & Linux. On windoze, I had the same thing happen only on UWRL-TempleRun. If I remeber correctly, I thing the last Nvidia driver fixed it.......I'll keep an eye out for a new Linux driver and see if that helps.
It just seems like there was a setting I changed, but can't seem to remeber what it was......
Snipe, do you have this problem when you play on your Linux box?

I only use my linux box to host servers and such.. I dont play games on it. But I do rememebr testing it awhile back to see how it played and at least on the nvidia driver at the time motion blur was working for me. You could always try a previous driver and see how it works.

This was one the my main ideas behind the motion blur - if you wanted to go super fast, you had to put up with not being able to see too well, causing you to better time and plan your turbo use.
If I make it an option, it's balancing effect is totally lost. You'll get some people who turn it off not because it doesn't run properly, but so they can see clearer when using it. While other people would be at a disadvantage for having it turned on.
The thing is so proken in so many random ways on different machines it doesn't really make sense to include a feature that would be broken for so many people.

haha, would be a funny mod, kindda' like rabbit. One car is a cop, and one car is a drunk. The cop has to find the drunk amung 4-5 other players, then try to catch him. LOL

haha .. hell ya. Make it so the drunk players controls are sluggish and hard to move. If the cop gets the wrong guy he loses the round :D

or each time he bust/hits the wrong guy, he looses his cop powers till he becomes the drunk, and the drunk slowly becomes the cop with each bad bust/hit. You'd score points according to how many bust you make & how long you avoid being busted. So you want to be the cop or drunk as long as possable.
LOL even make it so the drunk can toss bottles out the windows at the cop LOL:lol:
Hummmmm, one thing though....how does a non drunk player become the cop, or the drunk?

Sounds like rabbit mode on crack. Id say... once the drunk becomes the cop he starts earning points for a good bust. Each time the drunk is busted another random player is chosen to become the drunk (or in some ranking system.. picking the player with the least amount of points). When the cop makes a bad bust he then just becomes a standard player waiting to become the drunk again. :) (I have the office to myself today .. lol... so I got time to think of these things .. haha) ;)

For me the Turbo graphic issue is worse than bringing on a white screen. I play on Linux/AMD64 and an Nvidia 5950 Ultra and it causes me to CTD every time.
In other words, until the next version of UnWheel is released (Shrimp already said he took it out for the next version) I cannot even use the Turbo function at all. heh
