One thing that remains unmentioned is Over-Under wather vehicles

Wather is the only element left to be conquered in UT, we have Earth, Wind and Space (does anyone want fire??)

It is true that Epic haven't said a word about the new vehicles, but anyways i'd like to see what you think about water related vehicles, since all the UT vehicles seems to be paper made, LOL, it reminds me Grand Theft Auto, is like OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG W H A T E R :eek2:

so, whater vehicles, what about them?

It would be real awesome if liquid in Envy reacted with objects like vehicles even more realistically. Like you drive into water and it decelerate as water splashes up over your vehicle then as you pull out you can see water streaming off the top of the vehicle down to the ground. A really cool ue3 physics demonstration would be to have a water balloon splash over a semi-intricate surface. I haven't heard anything about liquids in the new ue3, though. The swimming character animations in ut2k4 seem glitchy.

That may be possible.
I hope Epic include some kind of water vehicle. It would be nice.

They're just about capable of 'real'/workable physics in the Envy-version, but water ?
I think that still is a long way off. My guess would be Unreal-engine 4 or 5 before water can be semi-realistic.

i'm still looking forward to see more water related stuff than a "splash" when you jump on it

Half-Life 2 has really good looking water effects, rite? i dunno

Heh... ONS-Archipelago- themed map. Several islands, all with bridges. Mantas over the water, speedboats in the water, submarines under the water. Homing torpedoes. Two powernodes/ objectives underwater inside little sealab- style buildings a- la that UT Assault map whose name eludes me.

Return of the SCUBA gear.

Meh... it'd probably be über- dumb, but it's fun to think about anyway. :)

AS-OceanFloor.

Yeah, that's it. Thanks. :)

IMO the submarines would be too complicate, just like one person vehicles manta-like or raptor-like

Fighting underwater would be a mess, but a hella of an enyojable mess

fighting underwater would be awfully slow ... especially compared to the hyperspeed of land- and airbased fights.

Totally, but a couple of underwater manta-like vehicles won't harm the whales

They could be more tactical versions of raptor dogfights, and then high powered artillery from the water?

The idea of under-water stuff should not be ignored, imho, it's practically completely lacking in 2kx and it wasn't lacking in UT - something for them to remember aside from all the rest. And jumpboots.

hmm ... like, when you think of water combat, its easy to be reminded of naval combat involving huge ships the size of levels fighting each other... but in onslaught it needs to be small underwater craft capable of working at the surface as well ... just like that game with this thing that goes underwater like a sub but can also use jets on the surface of the water ...

but having such an emphasis on water could bring an unnatural evolution to the gameplay, like we are used to moving around on foot, on land... maps with vehicles made specifically for water would either have them underused and limited to very tactical purposes (like the leviathans in ons icarus) , or the map would become like far cry, ons-islandhop, and all the other island-theme things you can think of....

^exactly, so why not have somthing like the raptor being capable of an underwater mode!

Just as an added stealth effect, yknow, people cant see you wel when your underwater.

I think what he was wanting was certain vehicles being able to interact with water, not vehicles for specific use with water :D. It would add to Conquest matches; driving though puddles and stuff, maybe even have vehicles with amphibious ability, so you could setup a spma in pond or something  No need ruling things out. Water can be fun and add a little variety to the game, and having a large variety of situations and using vehicles and weapons in a variety of interesting ways is what makes this game attractive.

They should make an ground/underwater vehicle called the Salamander or something, just for those maps with a lot of water. Overground it would have wheels but underground it would use turbines.

yea, water vehicles is a great idea

Having normal vehichles not be dammaged by a few inches of water would be good too - and for the engine to pack in if you do go in too deep.

Or how about a vehicle traveling under the earth (in the sand) leaving a trace on the surface so we can see his path. So no rockets will b able to home on it and it can pop out and eat the head of an ennemy then burp and go back in the sand. ;) ok just my imagination going on here how about u give me urs?

AS-OceanFloor.

I hope Epic includes more maps like AS-OceanFloor. The whole map had a superb concept and dodging missiles underwater had a very unique feel then AS-Highspeed [the one with the train?], but with still the same WOW effect. This proved Epic's genius flexibility when it came to making one classic UT map after another by far. Hopefully, if we do have underwater gunfights, with vehicles too, we will see underwater ripples.

yeah you know how in movies when people are underwater and theres bullets going in the water how they leave a trail that would be sweet also i think sollid things like flack balls or rockets should have a decreased speed under water...

i also would love to see as mentioned in above posts to allow vechiles to drive through water without going like oops i'm in the water 1 2 3 kablammo!

What I think would be a superb experience: an island map and there would be flying vehicle duels over the seafloor and flying transport vehicles being the biggest target. And whenever one blew up it's pieces would float down to the rough waving ocean's surface and each piece would make it's own specific splash. Occasionally, some people would eject out of their craft before it blew up, and they'd each make a certain sized splash according to what speed they are falling when they hit the surface. Then, they get gunned down by someone else in another flying vehicle. As they gib, a fog of whatever their internal juices looked like would float to the oceans surface expanding as the waves swirl it around caressing the floating gib parts that gently fall and rise as the waves pass. Then some vehicles that arbitrarily where chosen to possess the ablilty to float and slowly move on water would be slowly drifting out on the ocean's surface and foot soldiers would be standing on top of the vehicle using it as a raft, firing at nearby flying crafts. It would be cool, but unlikely. :| :| :\

thats all possible if they decide to fully use the ageia physx chip thats supposed to be intergrated into envy... http://media.teamxbox.com/dailyposts/ageia/physx.jpg

also, the manta kind of behaves amphibiously already, but its just abit fake when people can just stand on it like that without unbalancing it or cause it to move differently... updated physics should fix that too

i never played as-oceanfloor, i have a copy of ut99 somewhere i just didnt install it yet...what is it about?

There is basically a submarine floating above a ocean lab where the red team start in the sub and basically get scuba gear and stuff. They have to dive down and get inside the ocean lab and destroy it's four main terminals.

Although this is in the future. The underwater vehicles could be pretty speedy.
