Hint hint ,
They are free! :
-Open a map that don't exist.
-Open the shader menu , and set the current shader you are editing to opacity (or whatever)
-Smoth the borders of the terrain with the smoth tool.
-Work with the editor for + 3 hours and open enought maps to confuse the myLevel package.
-Compress your BSP

-Unplug you AC computer cable
-Cut your computer's wires randomly

-delete editor.u
-import a texture file that is 8192x8192
-import a staticmesh with over 2 million polygons (this also crashes your computer, or freezes it for a very very long time)

Better than another editor I use, it crashes for no reason most times. It's bad enough that the community programmed a plugin for it that autosaves the map when it crashes. :lol: The Descent 3 editor, D3Edit. Worst software on the planet.

Throwing your computer from the window is also a good deal to crash it :o

Spray your screen black.
Drip Choclate over your Graphics card while useing the heat to melt bars of the stuff.
Do anything with anti-portals. [in my case]
Import UT99 maps.
Open the Demo_meshes statics pack.

use vertex edit to invert the vertices of a bsp object inside out then do an add..

add a curved staircase with 128 steps at a height of 32 and a radius of 64 center and 384 outer (16384 high that should do it)

Open Ued twice - this worked once though ??

- Delete everything in the Unreal Tournament folder apart from unrealed.exe, then run it.
- Create a large brush, add it, texture it with an animated texture. Convert it to a static mesh, insert it, open display, add another animated texture to it as a Skin.
- Attempt to load a UT2003 map into the UT2004 editor.
- Attempt to load a U2 map into the UT2004 editor.
- Use your favourite encryption program to encrypt random files in the Unreal Tournament directory. :D
- Put thermite on your gfx card and light it with magnesium ribbon.

Well using the undo button seems to do a good job....
Rebuilding the level whist trying to open UED for a second time..... (crashes my comp :p)

I haven't tried it, but I suspect editing an emitter so that it spits out 1,000,000 particles a second might make it crash.

-Play with the Particle Editor for around 10 minutes, then, go play with time settings.

Well i know for sure if you use projectors and try the undo button it will crash without even showing a error screen

2D shape editor when you revolve an object choose 800 on the sides and then make it. Guarenteed crasher.

dunno about in ued3, but in ued2 deleting a texture that is currently used in the map results in a lockup.

Works but makes the terrain go really f*cked and extreme heights and lows stretching the terrain to it's maximum in both directions.
- Put a shader option to the shader itself. Works with FinalBlends, Panners, Combiners, CubeMaps, TexEnvMaps etc. etc. Everything that involves a texture material.

-Create a ONS map , duplicate the side , make jumpads , save the map.
Get back on it 2 days later to realize that each change you make will make the editor Crash in a mather of second and don't save anything at all , even after a build all that took 17 minutes of your life to build. Hell :mad:.
Result = 2 month of work Scraped. I really need to get that fixed.

Select 2 lights of different colours then try to chang the colour of them both at the same time.

My Editor has always been buggy with Zone Portals aswell. Beng a right pain on the map I am working on at the moment....

- Convert Static Meshes into brushes and turn them into blocking volumes.
- Attempt to load UT99 music in Ued 3
The music browser in UEd 3 hasn't been touched since UEd 2, it's still 'asking' for .umx files. In fact, it's just broken and crash when attempting to open any audio file like Smiles already said. :rolleyes:

I guess it already happened to me once. I can't tell for ued2.0 or 3.0, but it don't happened lately.
its happened to me before... but it is difficult to reproduce.
I found a new one, loose power in the middle of saving you map. that then makes the map un-openable. good thing for autosave :rolleyes:

100 % working method :
Download BR-FindTheGheyBall map from Nalicity.
Open it in Ued and click the "real-time-prewiev" button... :lol:

Shift select all the texture packages and open them at once.
Try using particle editor on all the emitters in a given level, and make sure to click the mysterious ghost tab.

Not sure if its been said. The red bush connect one of the points togethe. It all ways crashes my editor.

Kinda anoying to execute, but make 2 skyboxes, skybox 1 has everything set to the fakebackdrop of skybox 2, and skybox 2 has everything set to the fakebakcdrop of skybox 1.
I did that once with ued 2.0.
also: place about 5 to 10.000 exploding barrels in a random shape, fire a redeemer at em.
also fun: open a map-file in an texteditor (if the map is to large of a filesize you can crash texteditor lol) cope a part, and duplicate it somewhere else in the file.
maybe if you are lucky it could work rotf.
replace random system files of ut2k4 with those of ut2k3.

Never quite worked out how you could even have 2 skyboxes.....
Don't try to run UEd 2 and UEd 3 at the same time, most likely all hell breaks loose. (Or one of them just crashes. ;))
Works fine on My Comp. Ive had UED3 open twice and UED2 open. Was only when I opened Photoshop things started to get messy.

-Keep opening and closing it until the viewports turn white :p (Yea, I went there... what'cha gonna do about it :p)
-Create a Melscript to loop tesselating your model then export to an ASE file... come back in a week and open it in UnrealEd.
-Make a UnrealScript to spawn dynamic lights every 3 seconds -- build, click play level, then go to bed.
-Run UnrealEd in dosprompt.

Make a map, in my case a map with heavy amount of BSP that is cruved as well. Do a full rebuild and maybe if you get "lucky" you'll get an instant crash , with no errorlog what so ever, to Windows. Add some BSP, full rebuild, and watch it NOT crash. Add som more BSP, full rebuild, and watch the nice instant crash again. Add some more BSP, guess what?... watch it NOT crash.
YAY! it's like bloody lottery. Only you win more... But I do get more frustrated at it than loosing on a lottery ticket...

Make a combiner material, and make sure one of the textures the combiner is using is the combiner itself.

Create a new realtime procedural texture.
Operate Ued while doing shots eventually causes a crash although I'm not sure why.

Often when im taking a break of my map and play around in it i tend to do addbots (add massive amounth) so i can have my own personal slaughterhouse :p

Show a pirate how the editor works and then leave him alone for a few minutes, and meanwhile get some grogg in the kitchen, when u are back there is no pirate and computer left just a bloody note?? scream wtf and read the note... "Shiver me timbers me borrow your treasure map brb!"

-Delete vertices from a shape until it's left as a straight line, with only 2 points. Then click the ADD button. (or subtract...)
-Also, i get the same problem trying to chancge the colors / hues / or birghtness of more than 1 light actor at a time. Even if all I do is attempt to open the little color menu that can pop up in the light proprties window. I don't even have to change anything,.. :con:
If anyone knows a method, I'd love to be able to group my lighting, and work out a method for adjusting light actors in groups all at the same time.
I have had some success adjusting multiple lights as long as they all have the EXACT same settings to begin with. Is it just a fluke or is it how it's supposed to work?

Not in UT2004 Editor, but in another UED3 I used you could open a new properties window for each actor you had selected....guess what happened when I selected all 5000 actors in my level and pressed it :lol:
