Ah... reminds me of when I played through the system shock 2 demo. I was bothered at the very beginning how he wouldn't reload his shotgun. Where did you get this exactly?
If you'll excuse me, I now have to go play doom in the semi-dark (it's morning, so I can't play in complete darkness).

Reminds me of a few years ago, when I would convince friends to play Silent Hill the same way. It's fun.

I remember reading this quake gamer his site.
Now I don't know if he was joking, or if he was being serious.
He said that, the first time he saw a fiend jump at him, he crapped his pants.
 If that was real well ..

I was deeply moved by this emotional display.....
Not.
If all reality TV was as good as this I'd probably watch it....
(I'd better say not to that).

Given the mood, D3 can be somewhat of a startling experience. The mood being 5.1 surround sound all around your room and playing in the dark, with your door closed and nothing at all bright in your room. I made the mistake of playing during the day too. The guy in this video, while funny as hell, is more than likely faking the whole thing. I jumped a few times yes, near the beginning and somewhat throught the middle, but as i got to the end of it, i caught on to the scares and just wasnt "scared" anymore. Still liked it though.

hey... I dont claim to be macho or anything, but I really didnt find the game scary at all. it made me jump a few times... but I was generally never scared.
I wanna see this kid play Out Of Hell when its released. that would prove interesting

Funny as ****. I can sympathise with him. I couldn't play the game, I ended up cheating. Yes, I freely admit it.
Remember, Some people find different things scary. Saying things like 'Ah, he must be faking it because I didnt find it scary' or 'For Christ sakes the game isnt even scary, what a *****' makes me want to take a flymo to your nuts. D'ya think any of us would be scared by the same things that frighten you?

CHEATER!

doom 3 is not scary at all... I played until I got bored! It was got for a few days...

Doom 3 was actually scary in the beginning, I thought. It stopped being scary when most monsters started teleporting in, giving you that handy lighting effect to find them, and the monster placement started repeating itself (about level 3).

Did you even read what you just quoted? damn... :shake:
I played D3 the same way as the guy in the vid, dark room, 5.1 on max nobody around. And I must admit I got scared a couple of times, I didn't really want to go into that dark hallway, knowing something would jump out and scare the living **** out of me.
But after a while you kinda know when and where the monsters will appear, it gets kinda boring then.
Best scare I had was the big bull like thing comming out of the toilets when you looked in the mirror..I litteraly jumped there.. (not sure if that was in the full game or the leaked alpha)

I dunno, I've seen all four episodes and was reading the forums when he was posting them up. He's probably exaggerated a few jumps but they seem a pretty genuine pair to me. One of my mates is very skittish when he's playing scarey games or watching scarey movies, he will literally jump out of his seat at times, pretty damn funny in the middle of a packed cinema.

I agree, the tension in the first levels were quite brilliant, especially since next to none of the monsters teleported in. The majority crept through ducts, dropped from ceilings and burst through doors to get you. Later levels were just a spawn-fest. Admittedly it did get much better in the hell levels.

As crazy as it sounds, I actually agree. :p
Whatever happened to just naming your topic what the actual point of your post is instead of posting things that are "completely different" that everyone has seen before.
