If you already played MC2 (midnightclub2) and liked it , Now MC3 have all the licences , meaning they will not call the saleen the ''veloci'' anymore, but by it's real name.

Played the first midnight club and thought it was good, but wont be getting the 3rd. Ill stick with GTA or some sort of manhunt type game, thats what :rockon: * is good at in my opinion.

it's definitely a fun arcade-racer game :)
altough I really really hate the soundtrack as there's too few rock and too much house/techno-dribble.

I like how the speed increases throughout the game. And best of all is that there's always a few races to choose from so you're not really stuck, unless you've maxed out the upgrades. I haven't really needed to buy a new car after the first one.

If you ever get stuck in a rainy race, pick a SUV, they're easier to drive in rain with. Works for me ;)

Mmmmm... racing game. Haven't played one of those since GT1 for the original PlayStation. That was about the only one I never stopped playing, though... Yup. Think I'm gonna haveta git me one o' them.

I tell ya, I easily beat McLaren F1s. :D

Ok , i played the game for 2 days now. On the playstation 2 of course (i don't own a Xbox)

From what we can see, if you are used with the older game (midnight club 2) you will notice a more solid gameplay and all the right names for vehicles and parts. DUB edition was a good asociation with rockstar games.

Now you can tune-up your car you want it to be, and select the Exact color your need for every parts. The crazyest thing about it is that you can make your own Swift color with 3 tone. That thing is kinda crazy.

In game, here are the things i first noticed

-Better grafics
-Blur effects on certain objects.
-Better road look with the blur effect
-Better burnout camera
-More moving details such as leaves and journal paper all around urban paths.
-Faster trafic :tup:
-Better lightning
-You can't kill pedestrian anymore

The bikes still have the same things such as landing 'easyness'. The bikes are very nice to drive around, i personaly have the harleys, i only drive with sportbikes. They are fast, and now it takes much more trouble to make you bail. And now they changed the camera angle when you do 'wheelies'. And you can hold down the weight transfert button down after making a wheelie to keep it straight. That's what i loved in MC2 and they keeped it.

Another new thing are the vehicle type 'specials', you can do a "Zone" and some other thing all depending on what your type of car is. I don't used other much, but i can tell that zone will turn the scrren blue and go slow-mo, and make your curve in a much easyer way. I think that this move is great for trafic, but i mostly use it for tight curves, or when i am lost in race. It's perfect for that mather.

The major lag part is obviously the rain, period. It completely lag your console to death like mentioned above. It make your driving harder, i first thought that the AI waren't affected by the weather, but after playing a little bit more, i found my thought where whrong.

The arcade feeling is still there, this is the major reason why i like this game. They changed alot of things, the AI are more challenging, the cities load faster and the carrer mode is better.

The police is like in midnight club 2, we see it in the previews and anything, you won't encounter it much, they can get VERY, VERY anoying. The new thing is the police man on a bike, and it was the most retarded part of this game. I mean, what the hell? The freaking cop just bail, then 2 seconds later, he still in your tail, or car side tring to make you lose control in a damn race. Yes, with a bike :rolleyes:

Basicly everything is better. They even changed the race editor style, this time you can put the check point eveywhere on the streets, only where the AI are able to go. It was better than i expected, but it could be better still.

Keeping talking about AI, they are better with motocycle and Capture the flag mode. In MC2 the AI where not able to use the 'Nitro' in CTF unless you hit them with the item "go". You can't play "TAG" since the AI are only pathed in the streets. They did aditional pathing for the carrer mode but not for the entire city in arcade mode. It's too bad then.

The new gametypes are freenzy, which you need to keep your speed at maximum becasue you have time to get checkpoints with trafic. You can slow down when you have enough time accumulated, but every 10 seconds you get a nitro and it automaticly use it. Timing and control you can learn playing it. Not so fancy. But still, fun

Paint is terrible in my opinion, they are checkpoints that need to be controled by teams, everytime a vehicles from it's own team will pass on it, it will become it's team color and will now be under control, but opponents can steal it anytime by simply passing on it. Tha't not a very good gametype if you ask me, maybe with more or less checkpoints, i tried itonce and found it "gay" since if decent players will get to play it in well balenced teams, one guy will chasse it's opponent and turn the checkpoint for everyone the leader will get. It's like droping money on your way, your opponets will gain it. Just plain stupid gametype.

Capture the flag is back "yay". Now it have classic, split, and base war. Personaly, i hate base war since you need to return your own flag to your base and it become very boring, Classic is the best and it will ever be. Random drop and flag spawn in a certain location of the city, it makes the game completely random everytime. The items are now better and the 'Ghost' item is now lasting 4 seconds instead of like 10 :tup:, they removed the funky one that gived you headache with the Flashy-multicolor thing in your screen, that is a good thing, since you can dissable it from the video settings (special effects) It was one of the most "omgplzfix" in MC2.

EDIT: For the music, the music is not so bad, though, after having selected only (techno) or (hip-hop) you will get mentaly disturbed. And for the rock music, N-O. Just No. Total mess.

I really want that game, i like it alot. The problem here is, it seems like no stores got it, even not walmart or anyone, Maybe ElectronicBoutique (EB) have it (but it's way toooo far from my home). I will have to get it used from a video store, since i can't get it new


Maybe it's just the Cd i rented but, everytime i start the console, i need to open the cd cover and reclose it, instead the CD will not be detected (WTF) :con:

I have no problem with the framerates. It's sure that if you play CTF offline the bots are dumb as hell, but the already made tracks are very fun actualy.

it's still a fun game but if you get a ninja or a me 412 it's to unfair for noobs

and the only time i see the frame rate drop is at the beginning

Actualy i think that the Aprilia factory is better than the ZX. And obviously it's normal that Exotics beat the sedans/SUVs. I don't know online, but i play offline and if i want to race with SUV i give my opponents the same kind of cars.

Alright, i bought MC3-Remix for PS2 today :)

Being a slave of the series, i saw that they got the Remix version out lately, i saw it for under $35 so i just couldn't resist. And man, i don't regret. Tokyo is back, same tokyo from MC2 all remixed all the way, it looks god damn fancier than the older version. All over the place, the buildings from far away, the details :)

New cars i mainly noticed are the Zonda, Some more cadilac, the Lamborgini Diablo. And some dodge's.

If you liked the soundtracks from the original you might like the new ones. Some of them are anoying, but the rock addition were really smooth and easy. Techno ones are kinda funky.

I am probably going to end the "Tokyo challenge soon"
But seriously, They are complete retards for making it a console game, They EVEN brought the game for the PSP :(
