If you have the grid size set too large it won't be able to place objects sometimes.

I have tried both changing the size of the grid larger and smaller neither helped, I also tried placing it in other views and neither worked as well

This is a pretty common glitch in UEd. It can get pretty snarky about adding actors, for no particular reason. My personal favorite is RightClick --> Add Light Actor Here --> no result. :hmm:

The most common cause is trying to add the actor in the 3d viewport and the editor has trouble trying to guess exactly where in that 3d space you're trying to place the actor.

The second most common cause is trying to place an Actor that acts as a pathnode (such as PlayerStarts) less than 64 UU from a wall/floor.

The third most common cause is UEd is a pain in the ass. This also happens to be the fourth-through-seventh most common causes.

If you haven't done this already, exit, then reopen the level and try to add the problem actor. If all you have is a big empty cube, it won't hurt too badly to start again. If you're still pulling your hair out, email it to my username at beyondunreal.com.

I suppose it could be an issue if that cube isn't constructed correctly.* I've seen a thread where someone was trying to build the map like it was Q3, where things are, apparently, added to an empty space as opposed to subtracted from a filled space. You did use a subtraction brush, right?

* Sorry if this insults your intelligence, but I have no ideas beyond what others have said could be wrong.
