does voodoo5 5000 support t&l?

the geforce supports full screen anti-aliasing.
also the voodoo 5 & 6 is nothing more than a voodoo 3 with more RAM. Except for they're oh-so-wonderful "smudging" that doesn't even work correctly.

plus the games that DO support the T&L engine run faster on the geforce than they do on the 128 meg voodoo 6. Thats pretty sad for 3dfx.

Good question Red. Where are the boards? Anyway, I heard that the V5 5500 (or whatever the numbers are) will cost $500 or more when it is released. I'd rather buy a NV15 and be "forced" to play at very high resolutions for high quality, than buy a $500 V5 and be able to play @320x200 with full-scene antialiasing.

One thing to remember is that Toms Hardware tends to bash the 3dfx line of products, so take what he says with a grain of salt. My opinion? I'll wait for an NV15 and bypass the new Voodoo cards...

it depends on what type of games you play, and how you like to play them. for UT, nothing will ever beat Voodoo cards. dont even make yourself look dumb by saying otherwise. and serious fps players will always take moderate visuals and super fast framerates over insane resolutions at crappy frame rate. bottom line, u want speed, its all Voodoo.
ps: T&L is nice, but not an important enough feature just yet. in a years time yeah, but not now. when T&L will be widely used, every major card maker will have it.

As well, the SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE for the 5500 is only $299.
As well, most of those reviews show that 800x600 with x2 FSAA looks better than 1024x768. I doubt anyone will try to use x4 on a 5550 - but with as good as the x2 looks - who cares.

Red, just to clear this up...the V5 is NOT based on the V3! It's a whole new chipset!
One thing I just wish both nVidia and 3dfx would do is make some a good card for a GOOD PRICE. Have you seen the Voodoo5 5000? PCI ONLY?! Never mind! That would be the perfect card for me if it wasn't PCI only. I'm not forking over $300(which I don't have anyway, I'm only 14 after all) for a 5500. You can just forget about the V4 and V5 6000. My V3 3500 is neglected so much by 3dfx, it's silly. GeForces are not too expensive, but UT doesn't run on them well, and I don't even have Q3...
