The sights are very high above the bore axis, and a cheekweld with that stock looks to be very uncomfortable and difficult IMO. Not to mention that the muzzle flash with the short barrelled 7.62X51mm will be very unpleasant.

It does borrow the stock from HK's (X)M8 series and the very front of the reciever can be argued to look a little UMPish, but that's already getting a bit thin and about as much German as I can see in it.

Also, short barreled FALs have been in production as a niche market for a while, now, and they seem to be doing fairly well for popularity. If muzzle flash really is an issue, just slap a reflex suppressor on there.

Weird... it says the 7.62 is longer thand the 5.56 (39" vs 33"). Doesn't look that way in the picture. Anyway, I would find the shorter barrel for the 7.62 a little unusual. Maybe the pictures are just bad (and the specs correct).

And I also do think it looks like a german rifle. Maybe it's written FN on top of the page, put that rifle has HK written all over it IMO.

I would guess that the picture is showing s SCAR L with a normal barrel and a SCAR H with a sub carbine barrel.

Looks like a hopped up FNC to keep up with the g36 in .308 and barret 6.8mm uppers law enforcement are grabbing up nowadays. I'm sure beta c mags would be popular for the light scar though even from the earlier pics I saw of it.

Too bad the fascists that run FN don't like to sell their finery to us serfs

For some reason, it looks like a german weapon to me.
I agree ... looks like HK decided to build a FAL

Um, no. The old roller locking, delayed blowback HK guns have nothing in common with the new G36 line. A G3 and MP5 have more in common.

it looks cool , i read somewhere that us troops that use that rifle will be able to pick up AK47 amo on the ground from dead or captured ennemies and use it with their gun , it rocks.
agree with the gun looking like a strange HK rifle

Is there any real advantage to having that RIS grip thingy in the front on AR's? I've never used one, but i keep thinking that it'd feel awkward.

the RIS grip....it aids in control, recoil management, faster target acquisition, and proper seating of the rifle butt against your shoulder, especially in a CQB environment where you would be 'snapshooting'.

Its different, but anything but awkward.

Conversely, it's an impediment when you need precise, steady shooting (which is why you would never see it on a long rifle intended for use over range).

It's got the distinct characteristics of an FN, but there's also a bunch of HK-looking bits in there.

I'm going to have to agree on the whole "looks like an HK" thing. If you can get info on the guts of it, that'd probably more important than physical appearance.

Bush and Arethusa got the RIS handle thing down pat: It's mainly used for CQB or middle-range shooting when you're going to be putting alot of lead in the air, since pulling down the weapon as it kicks up is a breeze with the handle installed. But firing at longer ranges (I'd say +50m) gets cumbersome, and the grip feels a bit awkward since the shake of your wrist while gripping the gun makes it a tad hard to aim. But if you ask me, if you're dealing at those ranges, it's almost always better to have a bipod with you, since the RIS grip makes supporting added weight easier.

As for longer guns having an RIS grip, I'm pretty sure I saw an AUG with the grip on it before. They're out there, but I doubt they're very common.

EDIT: Yep, I was right.

How can you tell that's not just the standard AUG vertical foregrip? Also, jesus, that guy looks like a ****ing GI Joe.
