This is a beta map I've been working on for a little while. It is set in a calm desert valley in the evening with dust blowing overhead.

The bots are pathed well, though I haven't seen any go for the redeemer (but who's complaining? :D ) and gameplay-wise it's fun as well. Please download it and tell me what you think :)

Ah man I checked the link the day that I posted and the day after. :mad: I swear it worked lol. I'll try to go fix. :)

Good map!

The terrain could do with one or two extra layers, maybe a cliff/rock texture for the cliffs etc.

Add some lighting around the 'base' fort, some of it is pitch black :)

I tried the map out, and it's very cool, nice layout. Only thing I would suggest is scaling up the terrain a bit and adding more terrain texture variation. Other than that, it's pretty good. :)

So.. do we get to include this one in v4? :D

Absolutely! Once it's finished ;)

I'll scale up the terrain and add more variety, It did look a bit plain. I'll try toning down the sunlight just a bit and adding a little ambient light of the same hue to even it out so you can see by the base, also. Thanks for the comments guys :)

EDIT: Hmm, it seems that the ambient lighting doesn't affect terrain! I'll have to find another solution.

I finished Beta 2

ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...

-Added torches around the base 'doors' so you can see around it if you are back there

-Scaled up terrain

-Added different terrain to tops of cliffs

-Pushed minigun turrets toward the sides of the towers so you can fire through the walls, not into them

even if i am not a fan of fhi ,

keep up the good work , and , make somme layers on this terrain

mmm, still say the terrain needs work. It needs more variety and in a big way. Work on that and looks like you'll have a pretty nice map.

EDIT: also, the lighting needs some work. You still have a lot of terrain areas that are completely black. Try using multiple, lower light (Brightness maybe 48 or 64?) sunlight actors.

I'd say the black parts look kinda cool, and suit the map in a way.. -ish
Though it definitely (spelled right?) needs a few other texture layers on the terrain
Other than that it's pretty nice

I think it should not be pitch black at all in the corners. The simplest way is to add some AmbientBrightness in your ZoneInfo or as Daed said, using multiple SunLight Actors.. which is actually better as you can give it some sweet "feeling". Just mess around with it and you'll figure. :)

That would be great! I didn't realize you had to sign in to download, I just thought I had to sign in to get it hosted.

Lol I could've been mean and made you sign into Unreal Playground ;) (I don't know, everyone hates it...)

I will try not to make every corner pitch black, but I wouldn't want to give the map a washed-out look. I tried to make some of the shadows add to the feel of the map. I did try to use ambient brightness from the zoneinfo but it doesn't seem to affect terrain, even when I rebuild. The multiple sun idea sounds pretty good. I will also add more layers to the terrain.

Actually I meant Brightness under 'Light' Try setting it to 16 - 64 and rebuild lights.. That should do it. :)

I took all the suggestions into consideration, and changed the map. I'll probably post the final after this, so tell me what you think about the new lighting/layers and I'll fix. :)

I put about an hour into the map this evening and added the last few modifications.

-fixed the castle mesh - some pieces didn't line up correctly
-added ammo next to weapon bases
-added screenshot to level description
-added description to level description
-added ambient wind sound
-added another texture layer

Nice improvement :)

I think some of the lighting is now a bit too bright, the torches around the castle.

Yeah, I noticed that they make the front wall of the castle a bit bright. Another problem I couldn't really find a fix for was on the back corner of the wall - one side is greenish, but adjacent to a reddish one. I do kind of like how the castle contrasts the shadows to the left of it, though.
