View Full Version : Cress skin bug?

I downloaded the Cress skin yesterday night, and when using it in instant action I think I have found a bug with it. When looking at the skin, there seem to be "black lines" around the edge of the skin (seen here: http://img84.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img84&image=blackedges5zx.jpg ). I also noticed the "lines" on the armour on the original image arn't on the one in the game either.
I'm using UT2K4, and I know the skin is for UT2K3 but I've been using many more Gen Mo'Kai male skins from the UT2K3 section for UT2K4 and they have been fine.
Any ideas? :(

It's the shader he used for it

Is the skin supposed to look like that then or did something go wrong with the shader?

That's "cell shading". Emulation of a toon-style outline, supposed to look like that. It's no bug, and actually there are several other skins and models out there that use the same or similar technique. :)

Strange why the image before you download it hasn't got the shader in.

This may shine some light on things for you: http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=149345
I don't know why the screenshots don't display the cell shader. Either SaD or the_rex would be able to explain.

I can explain a bit or so...
In UT2k3 there seems to be a problem with the shader not alligning correct like in UT2k4. It can be seen on SaD's pictures of it on SkinCity.
It's meant to look like in UT2k4 not like in UT2k3.
I can't take a look at the problem right away since my computers motherboard is fried and all my stuff is on that computer.
Another problem I've found after releasing it is that when hit by for example a pulserilfe the green stuff doesn't appear on the skin. Minor problem but I'll take a look at it when my computer is up and running again.
BTW Thanks for downloading my skin :D

....
I think the reason is my graphicscard , because the pics from Cress are made in UT2004.

No problem, I downloaded it since it's the BEST Gen Mo'Kai male skin I have ever downloaded! :D
I always like the Gen Mo'Kai for some reason, that's why I only seem to download skins for them ;)

I just checked in UT2004 on my system and it shows up just fine, cell shading "outlines" and all. Looks great btw. ;)

Hmm, I seem to prefer the look of him without the cell shader. Well, you can't get what you want :(

Well, in actuality all you really need to do to remove the outlines is edit the .upl file so that you're referencing the texture only instead of the shader that has the cell shading data if you really don't like it that much. Might ask the_rex about it.

Hmmm, don't see anything in the .upl file referencing the shader.

Figured it out, removed the shader and he looks the same as the image before you download him. He looks sweet! :D

I appreciate you liking my skin :D Nice to know someone actually likes what I'm doing thanks :D
Since you figured the cellshading out by yourself I don't need to comment that.
