Umm ... how do you make an alpha layer( in Paint shop Pro) and is the shader properties in Ued???

Im confused :(
I have not used Paint shop pro.
So, I don't know how to make an alpha layer with Paint shop pro. :(

Not only an ordinary texture, you can make various materials in Ued.
In order to make a shader, select [File]->[New].
Since the default value is set up for making a shader, you need only inputting the name of your shader.
Then, "Sader properties" window opens.

Please see "=WIP=Ancient Magician" after that.

If you understand how to make a shader, you will be able to make various effects with it.
For example, specular reflection or environment reflection("Specular" and "SpecularityMask"), and transparent("Opacity"), and so on.

And, don't forget to edit your ".upl" file for using your shader.
Replace the names at "FaceSkin=" and "BodySkin=" from your textures to your shaders.

First of all, you need to find a way to make the alpha channel.
Because, the places that you want glowing must be specified by the alpha channel.
(I know that Paint shop pro has a capability for using the alpha channel. But, I don't know how to make it in Paint shop pro. :( )

And, if you draw a picture which has an alpha channel, please save it in ".dds" or ".tga" format.
In ".bmp" format, the alpha channel drawn with effort is not saved.
Paint shop pro can save a picture in ".tga" format.

Please try to draw a picture with an alpha channel with which the place to glow was drawn. (And, save it in ".tga" format.) ;)

"How to make a sheder" is next step.

It's very easy to make an alpha channel in Photoshop.

Please try the following.

a. Select the channel tab in the layer box. (See (6) in the attached picture.)
b. Right click on the red channel or green channel or blue channel.
c. Duplicate the channel by the contextual menu.

Now, you get an alpha channel. :)

To make a picture which will be used in shader for glow effect...

(1) Draw the glowing parts in different layer from the base picture. (to seem to glow.)
(2) Duplicate the layer of the glowing parts.
(3) Make a black layer for background.
(4) Lower the saturation of that duplicated layer until it becomes monochrome.
(5) Adjust the level until the parts that you want to glow becomes white.
(6) Make the alpha channel by duplicating the channel in the "channel" tab.

Save the picture in ".psd" format.
And, save the picture in ".tga" or ".dds" format.
Then, you are ready to make the shader. :)

Ctrl+Shift+U desaturates the layer you have selected just a hint ;)
