the last console I bought was the dreamcast, now it's time to get a new one(mostly because I want a new version of PSO), but which is the best?
what's your opinion and which games are the best?(it would be nice if you could give a link to a site for the game, can be something like ign, or whatever)

(no poll, I want you to give a reason)

I'd go for the Xbox. Hardware-wise they're pretty equally matched but when it comes to the number of available games, there's really no competition. Sure, the 'cube has a few excellent titles but unless you want to wait a few months for another game to come out that's worth playing, just run off to the store and buy yourself an Xbox.

ps. Xbox Live! rocks my world. The service alone is reason enough to get yourself an Xbox.

Gamecube:

Its cheaper
Quality games
not made by microsoft or sony
Pikmin is the ****

If you want console play go with gamecube. If you want half-assed console/pc gameplay go with xbox, but why get that when you already have a PC.

It depends on how big your house is. The xbox will take up a large amount of space and you will need a reinforced shelf to support it. If you do choose to get an xbox, I recommend keeping it in the center of your house. If it is too much to one side your house will start leaning towards that side. <-- of course, this is a long term effect.

The Gamecube is nice and portable, will not take up a large amount of space, and is not a risk for crushing small children. The only thing I would worry about is a choking hazard if you have young children.

And one more thing, the newly designed PS2 will also be a hazard to small children and suicidal emo kids. You see, it is basically paper thin, meaning that the edges will be sharp as a knife so when your children get a hold of it there is going to be major problems! Stay away.

Do yourself a favor and stick with PC's.

Well you say you are a fan of Phantasy Star Online, so for sure go with the gamecube. The xbox has PSO too, but the gamecube has a brand new version of PSO episodes 1 & 2 , and has episode 3. As far as I know the xbox will never get these versions.

And despite popular opinion, the Xbox has a lot of exclusive titles that aren't on any other console or the PC. A few Xbox games have been on the PC yes, but they have generally been better on the Xbox. Look at Halo PC and Starwars Battlefront for an example of that. You won't find titles like Fable, Ninja Gaiden, Halo 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Project Gotham Racing 2 just to name a few on the PC or anyother system for that matter. So the Xbox is also a good choice, and isn't a console you should just ignore.

And in the near future there is a great line up of games coming out for the Xbox that are exclusive to the system, or will most likely be better on the xbox compared to the other consoles.

You forgot Super Smash Bros. Melee!!!!

The thing about X-Box, for me, is that the games on it that I want to play usually come out on PC. Exception being Ninja Gaiden

^^^I gotta agree with him. Xbox > GC any day of the week. (IMO)

but honestly it really just comes down to what kind of games you like to play, I own a Ps2, GC, and an Xbox and the only one that ever gets any use anymore is the xbox. GC has a few fun titles but for the most part their games tend to be a little more geard towards a younger crowd and personally I would much rather be running around playing games like Unreal Championship 1/2 and Splinter Cell as apposed to Super Mario Sunshine or Animal Crossing. (not that they're bad games... they're just not my cup-o-tea so to speak ;) )

Neither. Now that was easy.

Reason: It's a computer for playing games. I already have a superior computer capable of playing games and a much greater supply of games than I could hope for. And if you think that's not true for you, then you are merely ignorant of your options.

The only reason I could understand for considering a console is the desire to play a specific title only available on a console. However, as you do not appear to crave such, I cannot imagine why you would want a console.

Well i'd go for xbox, it is big, it is expensive, but i have to say, they have some really awesome games coming up this year.

Kingdom under Fire The Crusaders (i tried the preview version and it really impressed me), Fable, Jade Empire, Halo 2.

As for Gamecube, if you have decided on Gamecube, then the newly released Pikmin 2 is pretty awesome, also upcoming games are Legend of Zelda(not Wind Waker, the in-development one), Metroid 2 and some medieval pinball-esque strategy game i can't recall its name right now but sounds pretty fun.

If you like Nintendo games, get a gamecube. Yes, I do mean 'if you like Nintendo games' exactly like it sounds. There are some great games for it, and most cross platform games come out for it.

If you want to play the big name cross platform games, and could care less about Nintendo games, get the X-box, because you'll be getting the best graphics and content (for the cross platform games.), typically.

Do yourself a favor and look over the game lists for each console. That will help you figure out which one you want more than asking anyone.

Personally, I want a Gamecube. There isn't a single X-box exclusive game I can think of that I want to play that isn't on the computer.

Edit: Zarkazm: If I were to buy a computer capable of playing the games coming out right now it would cost me the amount four to eight consoles would cost.

Speaking of cost, the GameCube is one hell of a deal for $99 USD especially since it comes with Metroid: Prime.

Xbox.

Cause you can chip it and run xbox media center. Or replace the hard drive and then go down the whole rent-a-game/copy-to-hd path which is completely illegal and neither myself nor BeyondUnreal endorse.

.............but if you're going that way get the xecuter solderless chip and run UnleashX as the dashboard and make sure the hard drive you get is lockable (Maxtor's work good) so you can turn the chip off and then go on live........

Oooooh, I forgot about Mame0x (mame), FCE (Nes), XSnes9X (Snes), Neogenesis (SMS/Genesis) and Final Burn Alpha (Neogeo/capcom) Surreal (N64) and StepX (Stepmania) emulators.

Nothing beats playing Outrun/Bubble Bobble/Samurai Shodown 1/2/3/4/Mortal Kombat/KOF99/SF Alpha 3 (the arcade versions where appropriate) on a big screen tele with an x-arcade stick and all sound pumped through your home cinema setup.
