Making it narrower kinda makes the flashlight useless unless you are really far away from an enemy, and in Doom3 most are really close up trying to remove your voicebox...

hate to break it to you...but mods like this were released the day the game came out. and there are about 50 of them...that all do the exact same damn thing, heh. go to fileplanet and search the d3 mods...

Bah, personally I think those mods are kinda stupid. I think having to choose between having your gun or your flashlight at the ready causes more "scare points" throughout the game. I'd rather play it as is, and if this is your first time through Doom3, I'd suggest you do as well.
