Ok, it won't chage gameplay or balancing, but wouldn't be wonderful to have the original models from unreal2 in UTxmp?
so for example a team can play as colonial marines or Liandri mercenaries

I loved the u2 single player models and i hoped to see them in the multiplayer expansion...

Maybe for clan use, but not pubs. It might get a little confusing if a team was made up of like 5 different skins: classic, merc, marine, Skarrj, etc... Color identification only goes so far.

Edit: Um, does "etc" count as a fifth skin? I can't count. :rolleyes:

Seems to work in Onslaught, CTF, Assault, Bombing Run, TDM, etc etc etc etc ;P

But then there are the jumpjet factors. Every new model would need to have a jumpjet factored in, and on some models.. it'd just be a pain in the ass, or ridiculous looking. I like the XMP models as they are, but then again I play for the play of the game.. not the looks. I'll play anything if it's fun and plays good, despite it's graphcis/visual appeal. Maybe I'm weird though :(

it could take out the balance that the game has
i say customise the skins we already have
and maybe do it to the vehicles
(me wants raptor with taxi painted on the side)

I would support female skins of the classes but adding more than that would be confusing and unnessary.

Not more classes. I would be up for the inclusion of those skins just for use in regular UT2k4, personally.

i'm not talking about introducing new classes and weapons!!!!!
my proposal will affect only the look of the classes, with different models depending on the corporation; at a first time it could be a little confusing but in a pair of days everything will be ok: in the end rangers are slim, techs are medium sized and gunners are fat.

with a set of full armor, like the models of U2xmp have, how can u make difference between male or a female? the only way to get big boobed high assed chicks :lol: is to change the mesh; my idea was just to recycle the old single player meshes, which included female models too... so the work for the developers would be minimal: take the old models, make red/blue variations of their skin and make a "choose corporations" menu when launching a server.

Other team suggestions, from Unreal 2, would be TCA marshals (with Aida as a ranger), Terran Marines and even Skaarj. But the weapons and everything else should remain the same...

Kind of like the way Tribe's teams are named.. only having a respective model for the team as well? Would be kind of neat, but again if done should be something done as a mod, or add-on to to this later in time, and not in the original base release ;)

How about having clan logos. You would have the normal model and skin, but there is a space for your clans logo to show on it.

I suppose your right Audellah. I'd just like to keep it simlpe so that its extreamly easy to recognize the different classes at a glance.

EvilEngine alredy imported over 72 Unreal II models to UT 2004: Tech(2 skins),Gunner(2),Ranger(2), Marshal(5),Ultralight Marine(6),Light Marine(11),Medium Marine(6),Heavy Marine(6) and some Skaarj models... I wonder, why dont Free Monkey ask his permission to use that models? :y5:

And if players want to play only with 2 teams it will be not always red-blue, but red-gold, blue-green, green-gold, etc... And there will be 4 models of tech, 4 models of gunner and 4 models of ranger. Players model depends not only on class, but also on his team... :clap:

Maybe i've not explained myself well... but this was exactly my idea when i started the thread; obviously, all these things are going quite far from the simple porting of the game to UT... so the best idea is to consider all these ideas for a mod, or even better for the first UTxmp expansion pack! :)

Aida is a very bad idea... And it will not become better, if I say you, where you can download Aida model for UT 2003, also imported by EvilEngine :rolleyes:

I am 100% with Audellah! For the record and clarity he is not suggesting new claseses for UT·XMP; he's suggesting the really cool looking models from Unreal II be addes as ALTERNATIVES. These would probably be lockable server side to avoid confusion and force a unform play experience.

There are obviously enough variations for each of the classes. If you've played Tribes 2 or the new demo of Tribes 3 you know there are many options for the player model for each class i.e. several Tribes -- two of which are presest to each map; UT·XMP could do something very similar... Thought there may be licensing limitations to the art assets in Unreal II...

EE did a great job with those, but there was some reason why he couldn't get the rest of the models for the packs. There may be some IP issues at hand, but I think FM might be able to get permission.

Also, the problem I have with the EE Skaarj pack is that he redid the stock UT2004 Skaarj models (for inclusion in the SuperSkaarjInvasion mode) as well as adding a weird looking "malnourished" model and an invisible skaarj (skin hack anyone?). Also, there's no team colors for the U2 models, so it would've been nice to have the models default to the red or blue version when in a Team Game.

But yes, I've asked Free-monkey on several occasions about converting the U2 models to UT2004 for normal gameplay. Definately would be cool to see Izanagi, Mercs, and Liandri Angels, going at it in deathmatch, as well as the crew of the Atlantis (Aida, Marshal, Neban, Isaak).

I must tell you my secret... I have never played XMP :Poop:

I played only single... And now I am waiting for UTXMP to try multi!

In Russia many people say, that Unreal II is su... bad! But I really love it!!!



Heh! I have new idea! Why not to use standart models in UTXMP, but make mod's fans able to use custom models.

So we will ask someone else to import models, and all will be happy...

All my ideas are brilliant :D :lol:
