I still have all of my GURPS cyberpunk-themed books (Cyberpunk, CthulhuPunk, UltraTech).
My avatar is actually the coverart to the box of the Neuromancer game for C64.
My biggest complaint is that there is just so many fantasy games out, and very few hard sci-fi themed games. I'm not talking about games like Anarchy Online, I mean games that are right here on earth, a hundred or so years from now, Corporate police, hackers, mercs, dirtbags and freelance hitmen. I love cyberpunk.
haven't played the pen/paper game in a while. I heard GURPS went over to D20 (used to be 3x6D)
is this true? anyone?

I cannot imagine playing with 3D6 instead of a D20.

Cyberpunk ?
I'm reading Neuromancer. And I think I've read Softwar and the original Bladerunner.
I'm sure that in the list of SciFi-books I've read there's a few more that could be 'cyberpunk'-themed stories as well since only after Gibson did they start giving it a name (and attitude). Same applies to movies as well.

And as for rpg's. That would be FASA's Shadowrun & R. Talsorians' Cyberpunk 2020 (sp?) for me. Gurps-books are a bit too generic and never manage to 'be' the genre.
Altough I've never actually played either one of them for real I do have the rulebooks for both and a bit of additional stuff for CP2020.
In a certain way one could consider Kult and Mage:The Ascension rpg's that fit the cyberpunk-theme as well, but I think that applies to any game that's supposed to be set in the 'near future'.

As far as games are concerned there's only Deus Ex-series and Bladerunner.
Nights' Edge the mod ... pretty interesting mod as it featured iron sights and a cyberpunk-theme, even though the buy-concept & maps weren't all that great.

Judge Dredd, the comic strip is sort of cyberpunk (genetically engineered lawmen, telepaths, cyborgs, neuronal implants, etc.). Unfortunately, people view it badly as it's been badly adapted to the big screen and as a video game.

there's a ton of cyberpunk stuff out there, it's just really hard to find.
A few (I want to keep this post short) books that are a must have: Snow Crash, Islands in the Net, Altered Carbon, Burning Chrome, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Mirrorshades.
Games: like I said, there is the old Neuromancer game, Shadowrun (Genesis version), Deus Ex (1), Uplink, System Shock 2, Fallout 1 & 2, I'll even throw Tron 2.0 in there. I could get really obscure and extrensive, but teh point is that there is a lot of esoteric (and not-so-esoteric) cyberpunk stuff out there.

Yes, and we need more cyberpunk games.
We need more well done cyberpunk games. And yes, I am a fan. I need to look farther into it, being limited by my small paychecks and when I can get out to Borders, my knowledge is fairly limited. I love what I've seen though. Ghost in the Shell was ****ing amazing, and with the first DVD of Stand Alone Complex, it's in my head again.

And JaFO, I thought I was the only one who ever played Nights Edge. It was cool because the laser weapons actually looked like, er, lasers, and the weapons themselves had a cool, slick feel to them.

I'm very fond of cyberpunk [and science-fiction in general] literature, as for games, there's a whole section for that stuff on the Below Canines website. Including a few gems like System Shock I & II, Shadowrun, Neuromancer and Syndicate Wars.

Well. I ain't blown away by the existence of a Genesis game, Fallout is neither cyber not punk, closest you get to cyberpunk is labeling it "Dark Future" and Tron 2.0 is totally cyber, but where is the punk? Just because there is a cyberspace or similar doesn't make it cyberpunk in my book.
DeusEx and System Shock are good, but old. Not to mention the ancient Neuromancer. And two, even three games are not a ton.

That goes without saying.

Nonono, I thought I was the only one.

Domain 2049's maps and artwork plus Night's Edge's design and weapons. Oh, how sweet that would be.

PS: Syndicate > Wars (by far)

I've read a number of Neal Stephenson books, and I guess he's considered cyber-punk though his newest series is falling away from pure cyberpunk. The one's I have read are Cryptonomicon and the first two installments of his Baroque Cycle series. All of them are long and long-winded but very enjoyable if you have the patience to finish them. I guess I'd call them historical cyber-punks.
