A few questions for those who can be bothered to reply to such an idiot  :

First a bit of back ground info:
Im getting a new comp but don’t have much money so im gona buy some of the basic parts/parts that are hard to upgrade first then buy some more a month later to improve it.
Mother board: ASUS A7N8X-E DELUXE
Processor: Athlon XP +3000
OS: Windows XP Home Edition
Memory: 256 Mb DDR333
HD: 40Gb
Optical: 52x CD-ROM
Graphics: 256Mb FX5700
PWR: 400w
Extras: keyboard mouse speakers (I can use my old monitor for a bit)
Cost: 450

Now the Questions:
1.what sort of quality will a system like that be able run UT 2K4 on with a reasonable FPS.
2.not really related to the rest but while im asking questions what does AA and AF mean. Iv heard it several times in threads relating to graphics and performance
3.does any one know any UK site/ places I can get a similar system cheaper.
4what sort of quality will UT 2K4 be played at if another 512Mb of ram were added (along with that I will be buying another hard drive and a monitor)

Thanks for taking the time to help a poor fool

1. I would sat that system should be able to run at 1024x768 with all settings at 'Normal' or maybe one notch higher without any problems.
2. AA = Anti-Aliasing, a technique for smoothing out jagged edges.
AF = Anisotropic Filtering, a technique for increasing the visual appearance of textures.
3. (Since I'm the US, I'm not of much help)
4. Adding another sitck of RAM may or may not directly impact framerate. What it will do is lower load times and reduce hitching or loss of frames in-game.

I would say that you should go for a minimum of 512Mb and strongly consider 1Gb of RAM. Memory is something that you can't really have too much of, and if you want to play any of the next-gen games that are coming out (Doom3, HL2, etc.) you'll want to have more memory. Also, the current standard for RAM is DDR400 or pc3200. The memory you chose is a little dated, and will run at a slower speed than the FrontSide Bus of your CPU. Idealy, the FSB and the memory should always run at the same speed. Other than those things, it looks like a nice setup.

Perhaps a little too expensive for what it is. Ever considered an equivalent ATI card ?

That's not too far off from my rig, and I run everything @ max details at 1280x1024 with no AA or AF. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to run everything at max detail with that kind of PC.

That's a sweet looking system, bar the case, it's an el cheapo, £25 pile of poo. If you're spending that much money on a pre built rig from Aria, give them a ring and see about changing the case to something like a Lian-Li or a Skyhawk.
