Quikshot of UT2004 Jolt sent word that they have recently announced two new competition events for the summer. Here's the press release:
Jolt is pleased to announce the start of two exciting new UT2004 events to be run over the course of Summer 2004!

The highly anticipated second season of the Jolt ONS League is due to start Sunday 4 July with a new collection of balanced maps and link setups. This second season will build upon the success of the first, which was the first ever major European Onslaught tournament! Key elements of the league such as the basic rules and prizes (2 months free rental of a UT2004 clanserver for the clan with the most points) will remain exactly the same, as will UTV, IRC and demo coverage.

To check out the rules and sign your clan up for the second season of Jolt's ONS League, click here! Even if you played in the first season you'll need to sign up again. Signups will close at 21:00 BST on Tuesday, so be quick!

As if that weren't enough, plans are in the works for a CTF Knockout Cup to begin late July. Full details of this are yet to be released, but we can promise some quality CTF action and plenty of prizes! Keep checking back for an update on this cup!

Bzzzzzzzzzz, wrong answer...

Not impressed by the lack of a CTF League at all. A Knockout Cup will get far less sign-ups because teams won't enter if they don't think they can win it (thus removing most of the "lower" teams). The way the last ONS League was structured (where the top team from any division could win it), was far better.

Not a smart move on Jolt's part IMO

You've already heard all this in IRC, so this is for the benefit of those that haven't.

This is not the only CTF-based tournament that we'll be running - the CTF knockout cup will be going ahead at the end of July, and assuming it gets a fair number of signups then a league of sorts will follow. :)

Which is good to know (was less than clear from the press release, which made it seem like this was "instead of", rather than "as well as" any possible CTF League) :)
