Good speech binds to use.....

OK, here is a list of the speech binds I use. Some of these are speech binds, some are say and teamsay messages. And its a pretty long list:

I use a lot fewer binds. And I can't find the "Incoming!" bind. Here is what I use.

Cover me!=CapsLock
Roger=U
I've got your back=I
Somebody get our flag back=O
LEFT -- Their flag carrier is going LEFT=B
RIGHT -- Their flag carrier is going RIGHT=N

Wiggum, the "Incoming!" sound is only in Male Voice 2. Personally I think Male Voice 1 is better, but I'm forced to use 2 as it has better sounds for team games.

Ok...I gotta ask...how the HELL do you fit all those binds into your controls? I have like...6 I think...and I'm all out of room. Admittadly, I have a split keyboard(a la MS natural style), but even if I DID have access to all my keys, they're just too far away. Last thing I want to do is take my hands off my movement controls. And how do you remember what you've bound to what?

Just curious, because if you have some method that would work for me, I'd be all over it.

I sure as hell can't use all those speech binds! I instinctively don't check the chat up top when I hear a voice, but am more inclined to see when somebody is typing. So with that same thought in mind I'm going to use typed-in binds instead of the voices, in hopes that if I say something like HEY I NEED BACKUP HERE!!!!! somebody will look up top and notice the location as opposed to hearing the speech bind and ignoring it. I know I should just work on being more observant but I want to be different anyhow. /~unreal/ubb/html/redface.gif

This is about the 3rd post LK has done about the (growing) number of speech-binds he uses /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

But the scary thing is that he can use and remember all of them and use them on the fly (it takes up almost all the keyboard)...

when i play with my clan online, we don't use the keybindings anymore, we use rogerwilco for voice command's, we can now precily talk each other into safety.
only downside is, you'll need an double isdn or better or otherwise you'll get enormous lag while talking

Us regular HPB use Roger wilco as well (with limitted success tho /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif), and we noticed no lag increase at all.

maybe, maybe not Serpico_TC|PuF , i experinced real f*ck*d gameplay sometimes, i don't know it RW, or something else, but there are some problems with talking when playing UT online, don't say nonsens it look's stupid claming something you don't know of someelse his system.
I sound's better if you say'd weird, i don't experience that kind of trouble. :)


But thrue, it seems to happen only while playing UT, becourse with Counterstrike and Q3 we don't got the trouble, so maybe it's a combination of UT and RW. But it isn't so worse that we don't use rw with ut, i'll think we lose more games if we didn't use it
Most fun of RW is when i am running as hell with the flag, screaming for help, and exactly where i requested help, my clammates awates me, and kills the following enemy, leaving my tail clean.
And also very handy for the snipers, you can direct them to support you'r attack while running in the open field, clearing the lamers for me, while i'm dancing, jumping etc to avoid imcomming scrapel

Serp, check out my previous post reply for a link to a page that'll tell you everything you need to know on how bind the speech keys.

Just don't do what I did and bind a load then jump into a game without remembering where they are. I was hitting keys at random and just shouting a load of crap /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

Soul Crusher, the trick is, that you dont need to keep you're fingers on ALL the movement keys to keep moving. When i press a speech key, i make sure im still moving in one dierction with one finger, while I stretch my hand across the keyboard. That way i can still press the speech key key, while im still moving and fighting. OK, here is an updated list of keys, (i missed a couple out last time /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif) Ive included which keys corrispond to which speech binds. I use the Arrow keys by the way, with shift as transloactor, and control as crouch. /me takes a deep breath /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

key pad 0 =Im hit, Im hit
key pad DEL =Man down
key pad 2 =I'll get the flag
key pad 3 =Where is the enemy flag carrier?
key pad 4 =I Got Defence!!
key pad 5 =Incoming Redeemer!!!!

I belive thats 34 binds. I used to have key pad one bound to a key as well, but now i use that for my roger wilco transmit button so I can talk while still moving and fighting.

Neo, you can bind typed speech using the INI file, or by using the adavnced options (brought up by typing preferences at the console), and selecting key binds. Then just type say followed by what ever you want the message to be. It also works for teamsay. ie.

teamsay Incoming Redeemer!!
say Goodshot!

I beg the differ; IMO "Base is uncovered" is not the same as "There are enemies in our base".

I use the "Base is uncovered" message when there's nobody guarding the flag, which doesn't necessarily mean there are enemies in the base.

I use the "There are enemies in our base" message when there are one or more enemies in our base. This doesn't necessarily mean the base is uncovered, it just announces the enemies presence in the base.

Then again, that's just IMO /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

about Nigma's "&lt;---Im here!" bind: I don't think this is such a bad idea. I'm in position sounds a bit like 'i'm in position and will not move' to me. the "&lt;---Im here!" bind can be usefull when you want backup while carrying the flag (on the other hand, that's where the "I need some backup" bind is for) or when you're trying to meet a teammate for a joined attack.

I'm not saying your alternatives are wrong for that use but I do feel the extra binds will be more understandable for the team.
