Can't start a UT2004 Server

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

When I try to start a 'listen' UT2004 server the following error message pops up:

UT2004 Build UT2004_Patch_[2004-05-10_17.18]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1542 MHz with 511MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (5672)

Dedicated server can't listen: TcpNetDriver: socket failed (275913044)

History: Listen <- UGameEngine::LoadMap <- LocalMapURL <- UGameEngine::Browse <- ClientTravel <- UGameEngine::Tick <- Level Albatross <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Realloc <- 676F4C57 0 FArray <- FArray::Realloc <- 0*2 <- FMallocWindows::Free

Sorry for posting all this gibberish but does anyone have an idea as to what is going wrong? I've done a fresh install and the problem is still there. I haven't patched the game and it's the DVD SE edition. This is really annoying me as I can't start a listen or a dedicated UT2004 server.

I checked my server log and once again, sorry for the gibberish, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Scumgrief & GeneticFreak, thnx for your replies. A custom server.ini in combo with disabling various firewalls and a reinstall with no patch seems to have it fixed :) Bring on the onslaught!
