just curious how many people really care how their stats are doing. i think when i first got the game i had them turned off but ive uninstalled reinstalled UT so many times i dont even care anymore.

i dont think i have them enabled, how can you tell?

i play strictly for fun, i believe when you start caring too much about stats you start caring less about the actual game and most of all having a kick *** time...

my 2 cents....

the only reason i actually have a stat listing is cuz my clan leader (I'm in the Children of Khorne) made me log a couple of games. Otherwise FUN is the name of the game for me. Win, Lose, who cares...

The stats are a good idea but are not the be all and end all. Its nice to see how you did in a game and exactly who whopped your A$$ and how many times.

I have mixed feelings about them. I was the biggest opponent of the ngStats...especially in team games. When I started looking at them, I realized that there was all kinds of good stuff in there.

It is a nice tool and it is interesting to look back at a match you just played to see how well you really played. It's fun to earn points but....

I'd really like to see a scoring system for CTF that emphasizes teamplay. The people who are obsessed with their stats and won't help their team in fear of negatively affecting their stats really pose a problem. I end up leaping in front of oncoming players, only to die, because nobody wants to get killed for their team.

It really is an ingenious feature. It's a great drawing card for the game. It has a few problems.

I use them just to see how I did in particular games. I don't really worry about my rank or anything.

I play like I would anyways. I expect to go up in the rankings (until I reach my true level.), but when I'm in the game, I never think about stats.

It's easy in DM, but it never even occurs to me in team games. My goal is to win, whether it be me in DM or my team in CTF. I've won plenty of games for the team and still lost points. Them's the breaks.

In other words, they're a nice addition to the game, but I don't play the game to look at my stats(despite my friends who think I have an addiction to them...it's actually just an addiction to the game that I can get away with while at work /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif)

Damn now if the stats would notice every time I got myself killed for the teams sake I'd be golden. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif I'm always blowing myself up to kill an enemy flag-holder or acting as a bullet shield and what do I get but a crappy rating.. /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif

I'm always looking at my stats. Im addicted to them. They would be much better if I dint have to change my name from Ruffrider to [F-U]Ruffrider but now they are getting nice again so I'm happy. I've been checking my stats since I first got the game so I don't think I would play right without them on, I don't go in servers who have it turned off either. I'm also in a friendly competition between my fellow clan members and friends to see who can get the best stat so that's why I keep them on. I don't think I'll ever stop looking at them.

well im really glad i dont care about my stats because i die and loose so much id be at the bottom anyways. i always go into the enemy's base and toss a redeamer on the floor under me to clear the path so the flag carrier can get out alive.

i also have a habit of switching teams to make it an even team. if my team is winning 5-0 i will jump to the other side to at least try to help out. if i cant win a close game i dont want to be on the winning team....

Unreal Tournament is not a thinking type of game. I play UT to have lots of fun and see how fast my reflexes are. I don't play it to figure out what all those tables and charts mean on ngstats. Maybe it works if there are UT tournaments and stuff, but I can't see myself using them. Kinda good, but kinda useless.

Im way too Type A to play with my stats on. When I know im being logged I get all selfconcious and am pissed each time I get fragged! I end up not having fun. So stats are off and its Night and day. With Stats off I feel free to get killed alot doing stupid stuff. Like the tme I tried the Redeemer jump from the Ridge in LavaGiant. I think my kneecap got pretty far. All in all I have more fun with Stats off because I am a psyco

im not quit sure about how the stats exactly work...but i have my doubts how acually accurate they are...well maybe its cause i play for fun, not the testostrone factor...

no you can see the forumulas for yourself..or just read a detailed scoring explanation for each game type...its on the ngstats main page..you can find a link to it there..its really cool actually and it helps to know exactly how the game is scored if you wish to maximize your rank

I have the stats on but I haven't checked them in ages. Mainly because I haven't bothered turning them off (think I might now, actually).

I play just for fun, and if I'm playing CTF and one of my team gets the flag, I won't hesitate to throw myself in front of any incoming fire. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't give a monkey's about the effect it has on stats.

Realistically, I know there's a stackload of people out there better than me (most PuFers for a start), and they always will be because I don't have the time or inclination to practice maps off-line until I can translocate from one base to the other, picking up all the power-ups and appearing to people only as a brief flash along the way. Against that kind of opposition, why the hell should I worry about trying to compete on a frag basis?

I personally take a strong dislike to stats. Maybe only for the few really competitive and GOOD players, they can sort who is the best. But for the rest of us, it doesn't help us at all. Maybe just to see how good we are, but who wants to know how good you are when the most important factor is having fun??

Thats my $3.49
