I have no clue how often that bug has been posted, but I'm going to post it right now so someone can fix it.

Currently, the only way to get a 'Defended Artifact Carrier' is to defend an enemy artifact carrier from his own teammate. Basically, that means you have to shoot an enemy escorting another enemy who currently has one of your artifacts. I most often notice this when I'm chasing two enemy artifact runners and finish one off -- I always get a 'Defended Artifact Carrier'. The same applies to hackers. The only way to get the 'Defended Hacker' is to, again, defend an enemy hacker from one of his own teammates. Same as before, this is most often noticed when you kill one out of a team of two (or three, or four) enemy hackers hacking away at some object.

This seems like quite a silly bug to me (how do things like that slip through the beta? ;) ), and it could be fixed by either making it work as it should, or by changing the messages around. 'Defended Artifact Carrier' should be 'Fragged Enemy Artifact Carrier Escort' and 'Defended Hacker' should be 'Fragged Enemy Hacker Escort'.

Of course there's also the chance that I'm totally wrong, but I do believe I've seen enough of the scoring system to be sure of myself here. ;)

i don't see the problem .. 'Defended Artifact Carrier' is under the group 'Frag'. that means: you fragged a guy who defended his artifact carrier. everything is ok.

Uhh not really, I just made it so you get defended arti carrier / defended hacker if you kill someone on the opposite team while being in the neighborhood of a arti carrier / hacking.

Just after cyb's post I'm not sure I should release it...

so you mean you could release patches to the game?
I've got a few little things... should I put them together on another thread?

Currently you will only get those scores if the one you killed is in the neighborhood of a hacker/arti carrier, and the arti carrier/hacker and the player you killed are on the same team (not necessarily your team).

I never thought of it as that. Still, compare it to 'Hacker' or 'Artifact Carrier' or 'Headshot' combined with Frag.

Fragged Hacker
Fragged Artifacted Carrier
Fragged (with) Headshot

Makes sense? Yes. Now, the other two I talked about...

Fragged Defended Artifact Carrier
Fragged Defended Hacker

Nope. It doesn't make sense. It would at least need a grammar fix to 'Artifact Carrier Defender' and 'Hacker Defender'. Also, it makes more sense to me to get points for defending your own carrier in comparison to killing the enemy carrier's escort. Or perhaps you could change the 'Frag' part with 'Defended' and then have it list 'Artifact Carrier' and 'Hacker' behind that, without the Defended.

If you ask me the original coder was also confused by the vague descriptions.

Also, 'Defended Icon Node' triggers around your own node, no? Shouldn't it, according to your logic, only trigger when you kill an enemy defending his node?

To be quite honest, I think I've seen Defended Icon Node trigger in my own base as well as in the enemy base. Gah, this is confusing.

On MSN a buddy of mine mentioned the 'Frag - Defended Dropped Artifact'. You didn't actually frag someone defending the dropped artifact, now did you? You defended the artifact by preventing THEM from taking it. Or perhaps they were playing a bit of aggressive defense by just picking up the artifact? But in that case there would be nothing left on the ground to defend and the whole score would be a paradox!

imHo the original question makes the most sense -- "defended artifact carrier" implies you fragged somone who was attacking your teammate, who was carrying an artifact. that's what it should mean!
