If you play the UT2004 demo in Linux and would like to know how to benchmark it, you might be interested in this thread on the Gentoo.org forums. The instructions in that thread don't seem to be Gentoo-specific, and should work with most Linux distros.
Apparently, if you do use Gentoo, you can replace the demo's libSDL.so and openal.so files with Gentoo-compiled versions for a small performance boost.
