There are just as many idiots in UT as Q3. The guy who comboed a team member because they wanted the boots, the idiot who shot me for fun and so we lost our flag, and that silly cow who decided to slag me off for 3 games because I said "Yeehaw!" when we won!

I have noticed alot of ego in my Q3 games. People who are quick to take offence and people who have a childish attitude. Now I have only played a few Q3 games, but on the whole, I find that the UT games have more mature players who will compliment a good shot or nice tactic. The only coment I ever saw in a Q3 game in regards to a tactic was "ucking camper!!!!"

Type 1: Quake 3 Guys/Gals
Kill anything thats not them
Complain there's too much blood in their caffeine system
Are generally more headstrong

Type 2: UT Guys/Gals
More thoughtful
Like variety
Wiser

or you could put it this way:

Quake (3) = Religion

Unreal (Tournament) = Concept

People are much more open to concepts than religion. (Religion is the leading cause of armed conflict throughout civilised history - IMHO)

People kill people over religion every day. It's not so often that concepts cause it (only the pro-life/anti-abortion idiots that bomb abortion clinics - yeah, that's makes a lot of sense).

oh BTW, why does Q3 have such steep requirements as compared to UT?? I didn't understand that. Q3 requires Pentium 233 with at least an 8MB graphics card and 64 MB, while UT requires at least a graphics card p200 with 32

Q3 is just that much more system intensive. I don't know if you can classify people like that. UT has it's share of lamers, just like Q3 does.

I think UT has MUCH less lamers. Just compare Q3 forums and UT forums... hey that rums.. Q3, UT LOL /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif Q3.. UT LOL it rhymes hahah oh wait maybe it doesnt doh.. its differnet when you say it out loud and when you just think about the names /~unreal/ubb/html/frown.gif

One of the reasons the Quake3 engine has sucj high system requirements is that the engine is relatively new. UT's has been around for about 6 years now (with a little tweaking). It *had* to be able to run on reasonable system requirements. Although, when Unreal came out...everyone said what ungodly system requirements *it* had.

I hate to say this, but I think the recommended system requirements are more accurate for Q3 than they are for UT.

I notice the FPS in UT is considerably lower than a comparable system in Q3.

Not that I care.

Oh yeah, they're definitely more accurate for Q3 than UT. That goes back to Unreal and one of the main complaints about that game. It does not like to run on a p200 machine!. In UT's defense...once again, the engine is optimized for glide(the premier driver of its time) because of its age.

What will really be interesting is Epic's next engine. The Unreal engine was ahead of its time (except the original netcode) and holds up very well even today in the form of UT, WOT and DNF(hopefully) against even the mighty id software.

Always a good guidline that I use is take the Minimum Sys requirements on a game box and add about 100mhz or %25. Keep in mind that those Requirements (God danm that is a big word) are written by the game marketers more often than the programers. (See Trespasser) Also If you are geting to the point where you are coming close to the above guidline then it is time to upgrade!!!!
