Hi i have drawn a logo for my call of duty clan and somehow coloured it.
1. How can i draw over black lines with colour without hurting the black lines?
see the stick man picture that is attached if u dont know what i mean :sniper: :chainsaw:
2. In my logo ( the 3 impaled heads ) i have finished colouring the heads somehow.. But i do not know how to draw a background without touching the heads....
If i dont get answers to these question then theres no way i can colour anything it is just to long ( i did it with my logo and it took long )

you'll need to use layers. Hit F7 to open the layer palette. Make a new layer, then drag it under the layer that is already there. Select and delete the white on the origional layer, then draw your design on the new layer. You can make a new layer under both of those to add a background colour if you wish. Hope that helps a lil

I've been active in building a Warhammer army for about a year and two months (almost). I first saw a space marine when I found the model for UT. I though that they were just too cool looking, so I looked into Warhammer 40k, and it started at christmas that year when I got my first minis... I have a small army still, 35 marines, +1 assaul squad, +1 Emperors champion, +1 Terminator Captain, 2 Rhinos (1 old and 1 new style), 1 Predator Anhialator, 1 Vindicator, 1 Landspeeder, 1 dreadnaught, 1 attack bike, 1 assault bike, and a half-built land raider crusader. All of which are Black Templars, naturally :) lol.
heres a link to the file. I know nothing about editing UT2003 at all, so I can't help ya. srry.
http://skincity.beyondunreal.com/index.php?section=models&action=show_infos&id=275
Theres prolly a tut or a post on the board here about getting stuff into Upaint. I've played around a little in UnrealEd for both UT and UT2003, and I can get the pcx files out, but thats as far as I can really go. I may give it another go, if I can find some tutorials around here... You know of any for UT2003 skin making?

Easy & cheap way:
Mask your original image, invert the masked area then copy & paste as a new layer over the background & merge.
Here's a quick mockup to give you an idea (See attatched image).
I'll let you do it properly though as you will never learn otherwise. :)

mask my image?? omg dude i dunno anything.... :B thank u for trying but i really do not know what to press...it makes it worse that my photoshop is in russian..
maggot: the logo is what i wanted but its really to bad u had to save it as a jpg file, thus ruining the quality, and dulling the colour... if u find something that will teach em how to get a custom model into upaint i will try my best to do it.. i wanted to make a chaos tho...
i have a piece or 2 from all the armies, of 40k, and ancient...none of ym armies are ready to play, barely any are painted, adn tis a desaster... i tried to convert many fo them.. the closest thing to an army is my 40k chaos space marines...i have 10 chaos marines ( old style marines ) and lots of Khorne marines

Your version of Photoshop is in russian & you cannot read it?! LOL
For a start, what is your native language then.
Also, why not try something like Paint Shop Pro then, a bit simpler but still able do everything that you will want to with it?

Paint Shop Pro (http://www.jasc.com/) (as Mick mentioned) is shareware and fairly good, or at least it was last time I used it. The GNU Image Manipulation Program is a free open-source app, which is what I now use.
GNU Image Manipulation Program for Windows: http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/faq.html
and a free online book on using it, with examples: http://gimp-savvy.com/BOOK/index.html (in particular, chapters 2-4 explain everything you could possibly want to know about layers and masking)

There is no problem buying "original" russian software.

Sorry, I hadn't realised you were actually from Russia; since you were complaining about your copy being in Russian, it seems everyone assumed you were from somewhere English-speaking but had an illegal copy of Photoshop from Russia!
I can see that following instructions from an English copy of Photoshop would be quite difficult though, since I have no idea how terms like masking translate into Russian...

Midnight is Paintshop better then Photoshop??
_MAGGOT_
22nd Feb 2004, 11:15 AM
it depends on what you'r doing with them. for actually drawing and doing skins n paints, PaintShop Pro is better. Photoshop is mroe for actually editing photos, but it will work for these purposes.

Go to www.jasc.com to download a trial of Paintshop Pro 8. To get a skin into paintshop pro, open up one in UnrealEd, then there is an export pcx button somewhere (maybe in the texture preview or sumthin, i forget) once it's exported, open it up in paintshop pro, work your magic. :) When you save, in the save-as menu, there is an options button sumwhere. click on that and make sure it isn't set to greyscale. Then you make your new files and such, and import the pcx file to the new ones :)

Maggot:
UT2003 does not use PCX files as a basis to create skins, that was the original UT.
UT2003 uses TGA's which can then be imported into UPaint.
Also please note that Photoshop is the "Industry standard".
All professional (Working) skinners use Photoshop or at least know how to use it to create skins.
Paint Shop Pro is just easier on the eye for some, but can be used as adequately for most Skinning purposes.

maggot where do u get black library books?? other then specialty games workshop stores which are like 30 minutes away from me.
Midnight Mick
23rd Feb 2004, 04:28 PM
I am just clarifying that Photoshop is not just for touching up photo's & Paint shop pro for skinning, they both do the same, just one is a little more technical than the other that's all.
With either tool you will be able to create a skin, just make sure that if you are creating one for UT2003 to do so in a TGA format, or at least convert it over to that once you arre ready to import it into UPaint.

_MAGGOT_
24th Feb 2004, 03:20 PM
photoshop is just an image proggy, so you wont be able to see the model, you'll need to go back and forth.
I thought u were in Russia, my bad. (man i hate that phrase. lol) You can get them from chapters book stores, thats where i got mine :) lol

Absolutly .
Webspace-list (http://www.free-webhosts.com/)
An example : Frag1 (http://www.frag1.com/)
150 MB webspace , 5000MB Bandwidth/month . Enough to host your pics .
This forum is not a host for pics you want to post in other boards.
