If there would be 4 teams u could even have temporaly allies.

i like the idea, though the teams would probably have to be a bit smaller than usual, balance/performance reasons.

4 teams (of 8?) each has one artifact,and you have to cap all 4 to win.

would be a good idea, but games would be likely to last a looooong time :)
would also need custom maps so it would need to be a mod rather than a mutator

Maybe you could have it so that when a team's artifact is captured by another team, that team is "out" and can't play until the next round. That should help the length...

2 teams is just fine.
Multi teams would fuxor fps, plus you would end up with people from clans getting on teams and beating up on rivals.

better up, when a team is out (like when someone registers their artifact/s), the players on that team are spread on to the remaining teams.
i could make some maps, if someone else does the actual coding. think i'll talk to Raptor about it.

the teams shouldn't be "out" after their arti is capped,IMO.let them have the chance to make a comeback.

please no more reasons to bog down my machine.. smaller maps or more useful vehicles will help XMP survive.. not a 3rd team --cool idea though.
sometimes i think the fellas that did the large maps in XMP think we are playing Tribes. but silly wabbit.. Tribes vehicles are faster and so are the players. we are essentially playing Tribes maps with characters who run at half the speed :(

Then there should be a XMP sebirT mod.. (cant call it Tribes mod ey :D)
Bigger maps.. huge tanks that go raptor-speed.. and all that stuff..

the vehicles dont have to go Uberspeed.. just faster.. the game definetly does not need bigger maps.. what the game needs is a faster way to get back into the action than it has now.

Maybe something like this:
4 teams with max of 64ppl (max server) ...
Each team has 2 artifacts, when losing there artifacts and with no longer getting power the team can't spawn anymore. This would put a lot of presure on the remaning ppl of the team who still are in the field.
There would have to be a way of having an allie, but only 1 for each team!
Those 2 teams would not be able to shoot each other untill the alliance is broken.
This would be funny when u are rampaging with an allie who suddenly becomes your enemy :)
Because whe are making XMP bigger I like to see raptors being able to drag a carriage to quicly transport teammates. Being able to send some troops fast across the map where ever there needed.
When the 2 allies have all the artifacts they win and the loosing teams players will be placed in those 2 teams. The team that wins that final battle will be victorius
When making an allie there should be taken a artifact from each team away.
This would be placed in a void only players of those 2 teams can go (entrance somewhere in there base and a max time u can be inthere as whe don't want any lamers hiding out inthere)). Retrieving your team artifact and registering it at your base will END the aliance.
When a team is to low on power the void will brake down and the artifacts randomly placed on the field without showing up on the radar untill a specified time has past
I realy like the raptor carriage. A closed one with some manhole for viewing and defending. The enemy could even trow something in it.
Having a bad driver will hurt the ppl inside as it would IRL.
U could place a turret on top altough this might make is way to powerfull.
A carriage with 4 (if not less) ppl and turret combined with the 2 ppl in the raptor and turret in the right hands is quite powerfull, ... to powerfull.

a server with over 24 people chugs.. i cant imagine 64.
although i could easily imagine 64 if the game ran smoothly...especially with some of these huge maps.
your idea is different if nothing else, but i would think on a public server you'd have pure chaos. if i want chaos, i'll go tell my wife i think her ass is getting big.

War is chaos... creating order in that chaos can lead u to victory, I was also going for long hard battles :p
Being able to talk with your teammates would be a great help as u have to be
either very stealthy as a team to back u up...
But when u think about all those lamers and ect that u find on pubs I can understand why u bring that up.
No need to have a 64ppl server but 32 is a little to low ,imho...
Either way, this is what whe are growing to eventually.

when Tribes3 comes out.. thats when i'll get my fix for full scale large assault gaming.
the newer maps in XMP would be awesome with 64 people.. but the game itself doesnt scale well at all. :(

hmm - personally i like XMP as it is
not knocking the idea but i think there are certain aspects that wouldnt quite work without making it essentially nothing to do with XMP - just using the engine
(sorry if that doesnt make sense :))
