How do ppl make such nice textures??

i have seen the recent model called badger badger, and i was wondering, how in the world can u make such nice skinning??? I cant belive the author actualy drew all the fur on he model, its just not possible.. Where, How can i make skins as nice as that one... i just dont get it.. :eek:
