View Full Version : Creating a looping sound for UT?

Tools I had : CoolEditPro 2 / Modplug
I remember an old tute mentioning soundforge and creating a looping .wav, prior to importing.
Is there some way of doing similar with CoolEdit or ModPlug?
If not, perhaps with import code itself?
Any help, as always, is greatly apreciated. :D

Quickest way. Edit out any blank space in the beginning of the wav using cooledit. Load the wav (as instrument) in modplug tracker. On the sample tab theres vars to set the loop (mouseover the sample -in red w/ black bg- will tell you the position of the cursor on the statusbar). Set the end of the loop, set loop=on, play the sample, tweak; repeat until desired. On patterns add the sample once (it doesnt matter where or what note, must be added or the next step will delete the sample). Edit/Cleanup/Cleanup Samples (this will "optimize" samples, removing any space after the loop). Then go back to samples and save the sample.
A lot of instructions but most of them are pretty redundant.

Well explained, I didn't realise modplug saved the .wav with loop info, that's so cool! :)
I use loop samples in Modplug a fair bit when putting together .It's for conversion to UMX, I hadn't realised you could simple export the sample again and loop information would be retained.
Thanks once again, I'm off to go make some loops. :D

From what I've seen it does save loop info. SoundForge has a fit if you load a sample that's been looped w/ MPT, can't exactely say why though it never bothered me enough to investigate.

Ah well, no problem here so far, CoolEditPro 2 seems alright with it, I've crashed the ed with it though, hahha imports okay (Standard UT format 22khz, 16-bit mono) but as soon as I play it, the galaxt sound thing just hangs and UnrealEd Locks up.
Rather odd. :O
