Seriously. It's gonna cost me $800 to get all my wisdom teeth out.

Thats obviously an issue. The only tooth that causes me issues has fallen apart on its own.
The problem is that half the tooth is left and its pushing on the rest of my teeth causeing pain in my jaw.

I just want to rip the sucker out....the pain would be great...but at least the pain would eventually go away.

At the rate the tooth has decayed, it should completely disapear with in a 3 months.

I'm just pissed right now. Cant sleep, clown will eat me.

I don't know if that's such a good idea. I have a friend who's going to school to be a dentist. I might be able to ask him what to do, or if it's big deal if you do it yourself. The only thing i'm thinking about is deep roots. Big teeth have major roots compared to smaller teeth. You could get some deeply infected, like your jawbone, and then you'd really have a problem.

i know how you feel. i can't stand to have a tooth ache.

Hey, it might be possible for you to go to a dental school, if there's one around, and allow them to pull it. My student dentist friend has patients he takes care of as part of his classes. They are supervised, and a student might pull it for free.

They have dentistry on campus....but they only clean teeth. They dont pull them out. I have already spoken with them.

I know, you'd have to go to a dental school. My college just cleans teeth, also, but my friend is going to a dental school for dentists. There might not be such a school near you. My friend had to go to Kentucky for school.

If it's $800 your getting off cheap, my friend...

My wisdom teeth were still under the jawbone, under the other teeth and pointing straight forward when I had to have them out (I was still in high school, so luckily my dad's insurance paid)...they had to put me under, chip away the jawbone on both sides of my jaw and bust the teeth up to get them out...the top ones weren't so bad, they just pulled them. I had two drains in there for a month, and bone chips working their way out for 6 months...my face swelled up so bad it was actually comical...hurt like hell.

I once had a tooth that required a root-canal and hurt like hell...Not having a job or any medical insurance at the time (crash of '81) I tried to pull it with some slip-jaw pliers, but they kept slipping off the enamel. When the infection went systemic, I finally broke down and borrowed money from my father to have the RC done...the work didn't hurt nearly as much as the infection, and it was quite a relief the very next day.

Borrow or beg the money and have it done right...

$800 is a hell of a lot for a couple extractions. Mine were $60 each - my friend's a dentist, he does extractions for $80. There's got to be something else going on there. Ask your dentist to see your treatment plan.

And no, you shouldnt pull them yourself. Most dental pain is from infections, and you really shouldn't just pull an infected tooth.

.45 is all you need
seriously, ask another dentist how much he's charging for taking them out.

A good dentist probably won't tell you until he's seen x-rays; there could be more to it than just yanking them, which is why you need to know what's in the treatment plan. If thwy need to be cut out, that could explain some of the cost.

ofcourse, but there are also "bad" dentists who overcharge. However, asking another dentist won't hurt anyone, in the end mike might save some bucks(or spilling blood all over his ice skates)

I knew a drug dealer who owed bigger, more Aryan-proud drug dealers money and they ripped his teeth out with a pliers (these guys are now in prison; click here to read about meth in my hometown and a bit about Schultz and Noe, the pliers-wielding madmen) (http://www.citypages.com/databank/24/1171/article11255.asp) ). My bottom two need out, like pronto. I can't stop touching them with my tongue, and they're pushing my other teeth out of line. The lower left tooth came up sideways, so the side of the tooth is face up and for some reason it sometimes emits a-MT flavor, which is disgusting (could be the drug making its way out of my system or some food could be lodged so far underneath that floss won't get it, giving way to permanent halitosis from that area until the tooth is removed and the area is cleaned). If I get the job I'm waiting on, I'm getting them removed asap.

I got one bad back tooth needs to come out too. :(
I rince with hydrogen peroxide (sp?) everynight and use ambesol when I need to. It keeps getting looser....I`m hoping it fall out when it`s ready.
You could always pull a Tom Hank`s and pound it out with a rock and an ice skate blade. (castaway movie)

I had a tooth pulled years ago that’s right in front of a wisdom tooth. The wisdom is growing sideways along my jaw and filling in the gap from the pulled tooth. I mess with it with my tongue, trying to pull it 90 degrees and straight up. I haven’t been to the dentist I a long time. I had my teeth cleaned at the college, but that’s all. Ever since I quit drinking soda with sugar in it, I haven’t had to go.

The good ol' boys moved. Well, there were some guys growing up from surrounding towns who fit the "good ol' boy" stereotype (the positive stereotype, anyway), but things are so different that I doubt that type of guy exists anymore.

I think it has something to do with the “old boy” part. Seems like an oxymoron, or maybe just moronic.

Sounds expensive, I just had 1 wisdom tooth and two teeth in front of it pulled. It only cost $300. Got to go back next month for 2 more....
I hate dentists.

I just spoke with my dentist friend and he was saying the third molars are the worse to pull. He said an oral surgeon might have to do it, and that costs a lot, which may explain the $800. He said they normally charge $50 for each wisdom pulled at their school, but if you have 4 pulled, that’s $200. He also said that they (the school) usually charge one half to one third what a normal dentists charges. If that’s the case, and a dentist does pull all of them, it sounds like it should cost about $100 per tooth for $400. Geography might play a role, too.

$ 200 is reasonable. $400 is alright...but pushing it.

For now the pain has stopped.
It kept me up last night dispite my pain killers. It's a little sore right now but at least i don't have to take any pain killers.

Did they say you'd have to go to an oral surgeon?

No, just said a dentist. Recomended a place that would do it. However they are always booked. I'm not in a huge hurry to spend $800.

Dentists usually don't deal with wisdom teeth. Thats an oral surgons job. I had a wisdom tooth pulled with a local anasthetic. It took a hell of alot of force for the guy to get it out. I seriously doubt you could get the leverage or grip required to do it yourself. You just need to have it done and arrange to make payments or something.
