View Full Version : Rendering stuff with Alpha in Max5......

Ok, got a little problem with rendering a certain type of Alpha in Max at the moment. I've got a load of skins I've made and am currently rendering the portrait images for them using the rigged characters that DE released. All's well and good until I get to a couple of skins I've made for the Satin/Sapphire model. How the hell do I get it to render the face properly transparent?

The body skin is Masked, and the head is Alpha. The body skin is mapped onto the face mask where the alpha hair hangs in front of her face. But I can't get that to go transparent. See the attached piccy for details, it'll be clearer than trying to explain :)

So how do I get that masked texture to do what it's supposed to do? Any help would be great :D Cheers,

Have a look around the options in the material editor/render menu. There may be a checkbox you have to tick/untick to get it to allow alpha. Not entirely sure though.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well, but haven't found anything that works yet. Any model that uses Alpha renders as a colour instead of transparent........kind of annoying :) I'll keep trying stuff and hope something works.

Nice one, thanks LJ :D Got the alpha working now (should've thought about the Opacity Map Channel really but oh well  ), but it's not looking as nice as I'd like - still small areas of green hanging around as can be seen in the new screenshot.

I'll get on msn tomorrow afternoon and grab that from you then matey, thanks, I could do with checking out the options mentioned. Cheers :D
