Which upcoming FPS games (other than Half-Life2), are you intererested in right now?

Oh, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and XIII looks really good.
I couldn't care less about Doom 3. The others are "bleh". I will try them out but it's nothing I'm looking forward to.

I didn't put DNF in the list for a good reason. Theres a good chance it'll never see the light of day. The rest are all viable, and all should be with uswithin 18 months (with the possible exception of Unreal Warfare) :-)

Yeah, Quake 4 is being developed by Raven (who have a pretty decent track record). Quake 4 is set to see the Quake series heading back to Stroggos. There are some Quake4 model renders and artwork doing the rounds, which look like they could turn into comething pretty special. Expect it late next year.

I didn't think Unreal Warfare was an actual game. I thought it was a sort of code name for the Unreal Engine.

I still think Tribes is better on Tribes' gametypes and judging from
screenshots they have better models and weapons. :tup:

There are no games Im hyped about, with the exception of Rome: Total War. I generally wait for games to be released now, before I waste time on them.

Doom 3 and Quake 4. Follow ups to some great games (I'm not really including Q3 in that... It was a DM game, not single player with a storyline). Doom3 less so, since it seems it's just going to be an engine demo - although lets not forget, Unreal1 was essentially an engine demo, and it was pretty good.

Stalker and Breed. I will look out for UT2k4 but I am not overly enthusiastic. Never head of Far Cry though. Unreal Warfare is too vague and far away. More of a myth.

Guys, Unreal Warfare will be an actual game, it's not a codename for the engine, Epic have said that it's going to be a new game themselves. Although no-one knows anything about it.

As for me, it's hard to vote really, so I choose all of them. In the more immediate future I am looking forward to UT2004, Half Life 2 and Doom 3, but all the other games seem interesting enough too. :)

And what exactly do you base that on? It looks good ergo it's just an engine demo? Does anyone know enough about Doom3's gameplay to make a claim like that? Not you, thats for certain.

Back up what you say with facts, or get of of this discussion. I have no problem with having opinions "it doesn't look like my kinda game" etc. but to say the game that id has been working on since Quake 3: Team Arena will be nothing more than an engine demo is a little, how do I put this... dumb.

As for Unreal, how can you say that was just an engine demo? OK, it really wasn't my kind of game, and I prefered Quake 2, but I'm more than happy to say that Unreal was a good game. It was well made and had depth. It wasn't just an "engine demo". Fair enough, the MP was messed up, but that got fixed. To say that Unreal was nothing more than anengine demo is at best ignorant, and at worst moronic.

I didn't put DX2 or Thief3 in the list because they're not FPS games. DX is an RPG, and Thief really doesn't fit with the genre. FPS games are based around the premise of running around and shooting things/people/teams, Thief and DX aren't (although with DX it did depend on how you played it), if anything, the emphasis is on NOT attacking, which is hardly a basis for an FPS.

Woah there Selerox - I heard this from a friend whom I rely on for my gaming info, and I usually trust his word. He told me that Doom 3's focus was the new engine, not the gameplay. Regardless, I'm still looking forward to it. I guess I should have clarified that I didn't mean it was JUST an engine demo, but that's a large factor - showing off the demo. And, I do believe I read a few articles on Unreal1 and how it's primary goal was the new tech.

Take it easy bud, no need to bite my ears off :) Misinformation in the gaming community is common happenstance, no matter how hard we try to avoid it.

meh I would like to see UT2k4. From what i've heard of DOOMIII its not going to be a good and long SP game just like Unreal 2. Lots of eye candy but short game time

I think most of that games on the list will be very cool, new techniques grapicswise, new game elements, way smarter AI etc.

UW does exist as a game, but it's not like we've seen anything concrete about it yet.

I've seen a couple of doomIII movies. Yes, it looked scary. A+ for atmosphere. But ehm I'm not sure the gameplay will work for me. See, I like fast games (this doesn't necesarilly mean mindless slaughter all the time) But the doom marine moved so slow. Course that's the whole point, since the new doom is a totally diffrerent game.

I noticed one of the monsters move incredibly fast (attack)
I wondered... how in the hell can you dodge his attack when you're walking/running around so slow? :-/

I just got this awkward feeling about the new doom...

The hype hypnotises.. but what lies beneath? Is it worth it in the long run?

From what I've seen and played (yeh I have teh leaked alpha, sue me ;)) the marine didn't move to slow, he does walk slow when u walk (duh..:P) but he can also run (duh again) I've been up to the ceiling allready with a laggy crappy stuttering alpha, I can't wait to play the full game. Sure it will be different from the fast paced actionshooters, but I think it's a good variation on menu's :D

About Far Cry, lemme know when u saw some ingame footage, and then tell me u love it!! (I know u will! :D)
I also was impressed with the grapics in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I've seen a "trailer movie" of it where real film goes over into computer grapics, u can hardly tell the difference.. /me drools :)

I would've enjoyed explicitly not selecting hl2 in that poll, oh well. ;)

I'm mostly looking forward to the rest of the U* games. I thought warfare was a codename for the engine too, though. So I just selected it thinking all future unreal games. ;)

Partially that, but also because I wanted to avoid the huge numbers of people who'll saying "HL2 will 0wn everything else" etc etc. It's something we don't need to hear again. Look past HL2 people, what else coming up after HL2 looks good? :)
