NEW MAPPAGE ON P^R ra286 - BetaTesting server....

Some changes/ updates have been recently made to P^R ra286 server.

Added to the rotation:
DM-INF-Slanska
DM-INF-Smolder-BETA
DM-INF-fmChina-r2
DM-INF-JungleWarfare
DM-INF-Hacienda
DM-INF-Underground_B1-NoBot
DM-INF-CapturedBase

For DM-INF-Slanska, two utx packs are needed; INF-Snowroad and maggot 1-2. All the maps and texture packs may be found at Combatmaps.de (http://combatmaps.de) . Some of the map files are rather large (the 'maggot 1-2' pack is 15megs!) but, as Slanska is a 2.9 map, you won't have to download it later! And I have been assured that these maps are well worth the look-see!

and further news............

Sometime in August, the PR1 server will be under new management, the contract with PR is up, BUT never fear, yours truly and a few others will be taking over the server and keep it up for another 6 months until the 2.9 release, so if you have us bookmarked in your INF server browser, it will STILL be there, just under a different name after the take over, the IP stays the same, the name just changes.
When this transition takes effect, there will be a <newname>server suggestions thread made here on BUF for community feedback on maps, mutes etc.

{note} anyone having all the files for regular RAV2 shoot me either a link, or email me the zip file, since we will continue to run BOTH of those muties

For that Slanska map, you only need the rt-maggot.utx file, the other you can scrap installing it will cause a UTX mismatch error, so if youve already done it, erase the offending file and dl it direct from the server:)

I thought that Smolder BETA had a problem because it has a space in the name, so servers wouldn't like starting it. Or am I thinking of another map?

I believe that was worked out when the unr file was uploaded to the server....under a different name :P

Just change the name of the .unr file to DM-INF-Smolder_BETA. And it should work fine. And if it doesn't, blame Taque...he's the one that made me do it :D

Also I suggest you guys scrap the pr1 sever when the lease runs out and get a public server with no password. There are more players than you think that get turned away by a password. Also, please set up download redirection for all those downloads on the server.

We've been looking into other possibilities for game servers. The big thing is price and location. And while passwords do present a speedbump to most new players, as everyone knows, there are ways around this ;)

When it comes to passworded servers that are used for public play, the best thing you can do is HELP SPREAD THE WORD! :D I think Ben PR has mastered the PR art of PR subliminal password PR disclosure. :lol:

One must spread Don't shoot Ben the word as best Don't shoot Ben he can. Yes it is a pain Don't shoot Ben for the password but cost Don't shoot Ben is an issue for many people. I am just Don't shoot Ben thankfull that there are people Don't shoot Ben out there who are willing to pay for a server so I can play on it. If a password Don't shoot Ben is required Don't shoot Ben to help those guys the least I can Don't shoot Ben do is get it, spread the word. Its not Don't shoot Ben as if its all that hard.

OK, i will not shoot Ben, {shoot ben}online, or offline, {shoot ben}as this would be a{shoot ben}bad thing and it would make da lil babeh {shoot ben}jeebus cry.

and the issue of what kinda of server to get isnt all that a big one, this comes out of our pockets, so we will pay for what we can afford, a private server is like $150+ per 6 months contract and a public one is at least 2 times that per month....do that math :P

although a pub would be nice, its just not in our price range and enough people know about the server already that i doubt we will even change the existing password, just the name .

Cost difference between a public server and a private server is too great. I would rather they save their money and we spread the word.

Bush, NoFate, SW and I wrangled this out...........I think just to keep a server that we like to play up and running, we decided to continue with the server we already have. Most of us either like 2.86 for something new and different (those that didn't like previous beta versions might actually like this one, and if you don't, well, find a RAv2 or 'Nilla server.) I mean, I know that different sometimes = bad, but give it a try.

Toad's rangefinder with binocs kicks ass, esp for GL use, and the bump and run is kickass for afk's in hallways, as well as a good natured friendly neighborhood bodyslam. (Taque, you dick. :-) First aid is sweet, and has saved my ass more than once.

Nonetheless, we'll keep it running to play this version, at least until 2.9 comes out............ We have discussed a public server amongst ourselves and will probably go that route, but for now, we wanna keep playing 'til 2.9.

I'll try this weekend to get it uploaded to my server space. The only reason I haven't put it up there already is because it only allows FTP uploads ....and my FTP software went poopy AND I haven't figured out how to do it on my new software yet :p

This website does not have INF_Snowroad or the maggot textures.

The links are broken and I cannot find them anywhere else.

Does anyone have reliable links to those files?

Good archives of other textures would be nice as well.

I wish the UT/INF community was better organized with regard to things like textures and other files. They are often incredibly hard to find, and there are few functional archives of UT/INF files.

Too much of this stuff is buried under layers of redirected links, many of which are broken.
