Ok here's a website I just made today. No tables!

what ya think? I tried to keep it simple this website isn't really going to have all that much. I'm trying to think of ideas besides adding pictures to "spice it up". I want to keep everything defined by precentages I like things that way.

on slight problem the css doesnt control the width too well and it makes my page extend to the right by about 3 or 4 px

yes I have noticed that in mozilla. I will try to fix. All the code appears to be right...It also doesn't display right on this computer using ie 6 :\ I don't know how to fix it.

Well for wanting simplicity, you've accomplished that. I do think you will need to add some padding to the text area so that the text doesn't sit along the border line (impossible to read at least in Opera 7) to the left and flush up against the right side of the screen. Actually your text area seems to be 1 pixel to the left of where you might want it to be.

I also have a hatred of sites that I cannot use my mouse scroll wheel on, which your current design fits into.

I'm assuming once you add a logo up top and some buttons or simple graphic elements on the left sidebar it will look better. BTW, I've never really seen a nice looking site layed out with just CSS.

If you squish it really small, the word 'Sidebar' doesn't wrap, just bleeds into the next cell.

Conclusion: Tables still are better as far as compliance goes.

All I see is an untitled and excessively pink page with a small square in the center. I've no trouble reading the text. My browser is I.E. 6.0.

This is a screenshot of my view of the small square:

I don't have that problem and my resolution is 600 x 800.
