View Full Version : Where can I get a censored version of NIN's "And All That Could Have Been" DVD?

I'm a huge fan of NIN, but I'm not a huge fan of the language. Plus, back at college, profanity is a no-no in the dorms (I go to a private baptist college).
Please, just answer the question if possible, and don't stray into religious/moral debates :)

That is a GREAT DVD, but I haven't heard a thing about a censored version. And about what Dopefish said, I second that.

I suppose as long as they don't say the f-word in that "God is Dead" song it's cool for Christians to listen to. :o

Good point Ari, and the name of the song is Heresy. Good tune.

Judas priest, I should have said "Lets keep any and ALL comments on religion out of this thread". :(

Wal-Mart always seems to have those censored cd's. I don't think they do the same for DVD's for some reason.
Other than that, I think you might have to edit your own. There probably isn't a big market for censored NIN media.

dude, I do too, but I transferred away after the spring semester. Strangely, other than opposite-sex visitors, the dorms were extremely lenient. Midnight games of football in the hallway (about 6 feet wide  ), me blasting "Ass & Titties" with my door open... Luckily the RA's in my dorm didn't give a damn about anything, and nobody cared, I understand some dorms were different.
Actually got kicked out of one of the girls dorms... how were we supposed to know they actually went by the rules?
hmm... kind of never got to the point there... anyway. Have they actually come down on people for it? If not, don't worry for it. I hardly doubt any of the students will care, and I'm assuming they don't hire people to walk up and down the halls to see if someone's breaking a rule.

In my opinion if you can't handle the swears, why listen to the music? If Reznor thought enough to write a song with swears, he put them there for a reason. Why listen to a censored album? Why not listen to the artist's vision as opposed to the PC one?

Clayeth: Yeah, they have. Our dorm parents have a little girl whom they don't want exposed to that sorta stuff. Heck, we can't even have pranks (well, they can't know about the pranks). They impose a 50 dollar fine for that sorta thing. They also have a rule for no R rated movies and such, and they will confiscate.
This is my third year at the college. While the rules are strict, it's a great campus and has a cool staff.
Some of the students do care... That's the problem. There are quite a few uptight closed minded people on campus, who like to spread rumors. I guess that's what you get though when you go to a private college.
I haven't gotten kicked out of a girl's dorm yet. I have been up in the hallways and rooms a lot, but with permission (I'm pretty much the mascot for one of the girl's dorms - They have this lobby with 2 couches and a fireplace, and it is perfect for reading or doing programming homework), so it's no big deal.
*edit* Masamax, I like most of the songs he recorded - but what I have heard from the live DVD is FILLED with the F word, etc etc. I don't need a lesson in musicality - I want the DVD because NIN is unbelievable live. Incredible stage presence and such.

C word too, if I hear right. Not in any songs, I think he just says it between tunes. *shrug*

To be honest, I have NEVER seen a censored live DVD before. As mentioned Wal-Mart has censored CDs, but I have yet to see anything like censored Movies (which a live DVD would fall under) except things like covers. Actual content is always the same.
Doesn't that album have a live CD for it? If you really would like to at least experience the music you can try that. If Wal-Mary carries it it's almost certainly censored.

Yes, there is a CD. I have the DVD and the double CD. Great stuff. The first CD is the same thing as the DVD, but with less songs. The second disc is where the proverbial money shot is. Has new tunes and remakes of old ones.

I have that live Nine Inch Nails CD myself, it was the first NIN CD that I got. I fell in love with it and went out and bought all the other albums they have produced. Its the best live album I have ever heard.
as far a censored version of the DVD version it looks like there isnt one. You are going to just have to put up with it I guess.

I have the And All That Could Of Been DVD and there is no censored version, as far as i know. Plus Trent isn't fond of the whole censorship thing so i wouldn't count on it. I had a quick look at my dvd and it's rated 15 with a "parental advisory: explicit lyrics" sticker on too.
I must say though, i never really noticed that much swearing on the dvd, and you can only really hear the "f" word clearly on Closer, oh and Star****ers. He doesn't stop to talk or anything between songs either, it's just song after song.
To be honest you're gonna hafta get the dvd or no dvd at all, i'm pretty sure there's no censored version :hmm:
Up to you man.

Thrash, if you're worried about being summoned to the Mother Superior and caned with a ruler or whatever, just shout your own bleeps over the music :)
