Wolferey

Hi all,
First of, who I am. My name is Håvard "Wolferey" Skjærvik, starter of Timespin Studios and our total conversion project "Forsaken Time". I have played games for years, and I have always wanted to make my own, and now I have decided to do so. I am an experienced mapper (going past 6-7 years of making maps for different games) currently learning UnrealED's more advanced functions and improving my skills. I have seen much of the modding world, so I know what has to be done and I believe I can do it. I believe in perfection, or somewhat near it, so if anything is not done right in my map, I will go for days trying to figure it out. I love seeing concepts springing to life, original or not, and I believe every game and mod has something original or at least semi-original, even thoguht it has been done several times before.
I do not want to boost about my skills, nor claiming that this mod is completely original or will become the best total conversion mod out there. I am also not trying to hype things up, all I want to do is forfil or at least try and forfil a wish and a desire I have had since I was 5 years old, playing Zelda on my Nintendo :P (Great game, Nintendo shall have that!) I acknowledge that quality comes with production, so I do not make any false statements like that this will be the “best quality mod ever.” I do, however, want to assemble a team that will create a mod of high enough quality that they will be proud to have made it. I acknowledge that the ideas described in this mod are not groundbreaking, I don't believe that that is the point. I am not asking you to "make my mod." I am proposing a mod, because I want the opportunity to work with you on it.
About Timespin Studios. Yeah, what is Timespin Studios? Timespin Studios is what our modding group is called. We will work on gaming projects and do our best in making something gamers would like to play. Tiemspin Studios was founded by Wolferey, Jollyroger and Arenz in the year 2002, with a realism game project to UT2003. But we noticed that there already were groups working on that kind of game, so we decided to change the concept. Now, Arenz became too busy with real life and other things, so he dropped out, and jollyroger was to busy with other things, so he became inactive, yet I stay with new members.
Who are the members? We got Mafi working on kick-ass weapon models, and if he gets time, some characters too. Aquila is a mapper under training, and so is Zerek. I got confidence in that they will make some cool maps :). We got SuperSoPP making professional music, and he is skilled in that too, and last we got Oelund, a former FireArms modeler making weapon models for us when he has time :). Katie is freelance and she is doing all the character concept sketches and some weapon sketches (nice ones too!)
Now, what Forsaken Time is all about. The story is set in a fantasy world named Molro. The time is somewhat medieval (hence, it's a fantasy/medieval inspired mod) with a mix of fantasy settings. Its history:
"Time is changing rapidly. History is about to unfold in epic battles of massive dimensions that nobody has ever seen before. War is upon us all, and may the forces of good strike upon the evil lurking around in every dark corner of the world. Stand alone or fight along side companions, and fight the hordes of evil that keep coming in, taking down every single thing standing in its way.
It is war in the world Molro, and kings are sending their men out to battles. Choose your side, choose your skill and fight for your life. Vanquish your enemies and rule the world."
There will be 4 different gametypes in this game. Arena, Team Arena, Death race and battlefield. Arena and Team Arena is like Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch with all weapons available. Death race is our twist of fun, where you will have.. transports to "ride" (see concept.php under "Transport"). You will be able to "shoot" with the transports available and its about coming first to the finish line. You can shoot opponents to get them out of the way and do some small, dirty tricks. Basicly, its a racing gametype with a twist.
Last we have battlefield, where two teams will start on the other end of the map and meet in the middle to try and defeat the enemy and take over the enemy, with whatever means necassery. This is to encourage teamplay and tactical/strategical moves and fight your best to defend your own territory while trying to conquer the others territory. Vehicles will also be used in this mode, but you will have to earn the vehicles. (clans will probably find this one nice :) )
The mod will include 8 different characters (Human, Elf, Minotaur and Dwarf on good side, Bugbear, Ettin, Orc and Gnoll on the evil side). each character will have their own set of weapons and traits along with some standard weapons (daggers and such). You will be able to set up what kind of weapons you want in options for Arena/Team arena, what transport you would like in deathrace and standard weapons in Battlefield. when you join a battlefield server, you will get a menu where you can pick a character (If you pick a good character, you will go to good team, if you pick an evil character, you will go to the evil team), then you can set different weapons and start up.
Some concept sketches can be found here: http://www.timespin.net/ft/media.php
The rest of the concept can be found here: http://www.timespin.net/ft/concept.php
That pretty much covers the technical side of Forsaken Time, so it is time to cover what we need. Since a Total Conversion is hard to do alone, we need help in about all positions there is. mostly, we need coders, mappers, 2d and 3d artists, sound artists and animations, but I am sure there are plenty of other positions I can't remember at this time to be filled up. To help us out, send an email telling a little about yourself and add some samples of work to timespin@timespin.net. You can also go to our job forum and make a post there. We also have an IRC channel (#timespin @ irc.gamesnet.net) where you can come and talk. I will also check up on the forums I post this message in, but please send an email or another method above, its best that way :)
Thank you for reading my post, and I wish you a good day. Hope someone is interested, helping or playing :)
