I was bored, thought maybe I'd create a riced out desk for LP. I got carried away in planning out what I wanted to do while I planned, and decided to recreate the speakers for the thing piece by piece.
EDIT: Its only an hours work, so sue me :)

Ice getting carried away with something is usually a very good way to push yourself and to learn.
Now I wish I could get 3D studio myself. Played around with Gmax but its rather limited in what you can put the models in. :(
Keep posting pics.

Thanks guys.
Ana, like I said in IRC, I was mainly focusing on the dustcap area and the bottom was a placeholder :P
I've got to find a decent boolean plugin for the bottom part, as 3dsmax's is absolute ****.

I'm currently learning max, the most complex model I'd done so far is a teapot. ph34r

I'm learning Max 5 as well...since my copy doesn't have the tutorials working properly (I'm the kind of guy who for stuff like this really needs those beginners tutorials bad), I'm kinda stuck as to how much I can learn. I've been to 3DCafe and other sites, but I haven't found anything really helpful for a total n00b like me

OICW. ill hook you up with a load of good tutorials later. until then look for the 'modelling a cool hovertank' on 3dcafe. thats teaches you the basics of box modelleng. i will give you a lot more later. it pays to do as many of the tutorials as you can. tell me what you are interested in modelling and whther you want to go low poly game stuff or high poly cool looking stuff. i will see if i know of something relevent

Haha, the first thing I though when I saw the attached shots was 'You should import that as a bowl into Morrowind'. :)

:( That hurt reaper. Anyone have a decent boolean plugin? Or must I rip off Jack's head in pursuit of his?

ice. if you listened to what the **** i said in irc. i cannot help you with a boolean plugin. i know there is a commercially avaliable one. i would just cut polys if you have already done a lot of work on it. otherwise i would probably use a spline cage and surface modifier. you could use the max built in boolean. but be sure to clean up after your self. it can really mangle a mesh. i hate them myself.

All you said in IRC was to find a boolean plugin.
Anyways, I'll work on it when I can.

if that wireframe is supposed to be the mesh thingoos, redo it. use the briks material. on stck bond. and make equal amounts of vertical and horizonatal bricks. that will give you a good mesh texture
