View Full Version : Quickening Pace of Life

I have noticed that as I grow older life seems to speed up. I remember when I was young a year seemed like forever. Now my Grade 11 year went by so fast I can hardly believe it's over. And I can already feel the coming school year. Summer is only 2 months, yet it seems it will be the shortest one I ever had not because of it's actual length, but by the time I actually feel.
Anyone else notice this? Maybe people around my own age? I would be interested in hearing any articles as to why exactly this might be (why time seems to go so much faster). Is it just us getting used to the grind of life and having one day blend into life? I remember when I was a kid every day was awesome. But now it's all the same. Only thing that seperates the monotony is the tests and occasional holiday. I am not really depressed or upset about life, I just find this phenomenon intersting.

Noticed that as well..sort of.
Last few years, have flown by me it feels now looking back at that, but also, I feel amazingly much has happened during that time.
So, basically I feel like time is flying, rapidly, but also that a lot of things happen in my life, which is nice, just wish sometimes I had the time to slow down, and enjoy these things..

one theory is that a year when you were younger amounted to a more significant fraction of your life. Additionally, you have more responsibilities as you grow older, thus giving you more to occupy your attention.

Yeah, what sand said. Every year of your life goes faster than the last (unless you have a real ****ty year).

i would have agreed a few years ago
... but now i feel like it works the other way. years are getting longer for me :hmm:
but i guess it's just because i remember of the current/last year better than the previous ones

LOL, Yah, just wait... once you hit 21 and start working it really flies by. I'm 27 and I still feel 21.. hell I still feel 18.

Gnat, I plan on being in university until I am 26, so it might not be such with me (I hope). I am hoping my college years will be slowed down a little by gigging and stuff with my band. I haven't done it much till now simply because it's not easy getting a bar venue when you are 17, however in university we'll see.

keeping up with technology and upcomming games has time (at least for me) seem slow :D
these 3 years I have been on this board seem like a bitter-sweet eternity! :)

Yeah, I know. I'm a 20 year old college student and my break is halfway over already, and it feels like I have only been home for a few weeks! Oh well, I can't wait to get back to college. The socializing options are much better there than here at home with a bunch of highschoolers and middle schoolers... :)

I will be interested in seeing how university goes for me. I will be doing many new things, including the gigging I already mentioned, and most likely be very busy. However, will time go faster because I am busy, or slower because I am discovering new aspects of life?

It'll fly by. You will wake up in what feels like a month with crushing debts, reduced mental capacity and a very expensive drinking habit. But you will have an incredible amount of fabulous memories. Enjoy it. I did :)

I ended up working for a University, and every year seems to go quicker than the last! Graduation starts again at the end of this week and it seems to have come round again so quickly

Yah gigging is sure to make your time go faster. Time flies when your having fun as they say, and it its true. It also flies when your busy, even if your not having fun. Goodluck not feeling old!
