I've been attempting to export textures from UnRealEd(packaged with Raven Shield, not UnReal Tourn...) Anyways, on textures that are compressed dxt1,dxt3,dxt5, the export to file function doesn't function at all. I have seen from online tutorials that there is supposted to be "Direct Draw Surface (*.dds)" is a savable file format. Unfortunately, when I go into the dialog, there is no savable file formats available, and even if I just type in the .dds ending when I hit save, no file is infact saved.
Any Help on this subject would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks
dxt1-5 are infact *.dds files. So you should just have to right click on the texture and select "Export to file..." and if it is a direct x texture it will export as a *.dds, but there are different types of image files supported by the engine, and the one you want to export might not be a dds.

I relize I should be able to just right click on the texture to export it, but I can't. It's almost as if the Editor just doesn't have the ability to write the *.dds.
Also, if the file is infact, not a .dds format(even though I think it has to be if it is compressed in the dxt1-5 format) shouldn't I still be able to export to some other format. Even .bmp for work as far as I know.
On the contrary, if the file is not compressed, like in the case of 8bit's. It will save those just fine. The only problem is, there is about 1 uncompressed texture for every 20 or 30 textures that are available with the editor......

I could imagine that the lack of that feature is either a bug or even deliberate; at least it doesn't strike me as implausible that Raven Shield UnrealEd shouldn't have that feature. The game's developers don't need it---they have the uncompressed source art, after all, and DXT is lossy compression.
I'd have to agree that it's a bug or intentional.

Upon talking to someone else about the subject, I'm almost positive that it was intentional. Thanks for your input guys.
