Well.. had some time this weekend to just mess around in Maya, and I thought it might be kinda cool to quickly hack together my computer case.. well as I got going I realised that the sky was the limit.. maybe, just maybe, with the right mods and accessories, I could boost my CPU speed.
Here's where I'm at right now.. I'll try and have it done sometime Sunday.

Also hacked together a nice little sticker I'm sure will boost the speed of this design:

Why oh why!? You just had to bastardize the Honda trademark.
It's bad enough when I see a Saturn with "Type R" stickers.

May I suggest giving it wheels, but making it a low rider with neon lights underneath?
Another cool, but useless, thing would be to install windows, but tint them so you can't look in, only out

Ugly beige case.
Ugly I say. Beige should be banned from case manufacturing colors.

I guess they keep it around because it looks more professionaller [sic].

it needs a really bad plastic body kit that doesn't quite fit on the case and still the color of primer paint.

You also need to buy a dozen 50-cent case fans that make a ****load of noise, and glue them all over the place. They should be cooling an AMD K6-2 and nVIDIA TNT2.

BAH! A real ricer-case would be cooling an Intel 133 with an intergrated video processor.

LOL. Fantastic suggestions pplz.
First I should say this is certainly not an original idea.. there are actual case mods out there like this.. of course, mine will be 100% original.
Planned:
Full fake-lowering body kit.
Some sort of racing stripes (I'm thinking purple on green.. make the whole case a glossy green, yeah)
Neons
I might also make a monitor.. a nice 21" LCD or something, then put some stupid full screen DOS app on it, heh. Or maybe the startup screen showing that it's a cyrix 75mhz or something lol.

Don't forget to show it counting up the 512MB of RAM and 500MB of HDD space. That would be the most RICE of all.

Needs a clear panel so you can see the NOS bottle next to the CPU :p

Now it just needs a pimpin' hydrolic system. Nothing like a bouncing computer case to impress all the chicks... :p

And doesn't the wing need to be in unfinished aluminum, not painted body color? Maybe have a couple body panels in primer gray?

i think you need to make it into a convertible. soft top computar!
on a more technical note. is the front bump mapped? or is it just modelled?
Los Pescados
30th Jun 2003, 07:21 PM
Heh. "just" modeled, bob. I'm modelin in NURBS. Take a look.. here's a messy wireframe:

i have no idea about nurbs. i should probably get maya for that. they are clumsy in max. ive used them but they are clumsy. im guessing that in maya they are essentially the same... ie you cant increase the meshdensity somewhere without increasing it all the way around that loop?
Los Pescados

NURBS is kind of like a piece of paper with lines of latitude and longitude.. as long as those lines follow latitude and longitude, you're good to go (i.e. unlike polys, nurbs cannot have T sections or 5-point corners.. all intersections are simply lines going in two directions -- horizontal and vertical).. Maya's NURBS are quite flexible, and I think they're absolutely the best way to flesh things out really quickly.
My understanding is that in a lot of cases you get as much done in NURBS as possible, then convert to polys or sub-d's and do final tweaks/cleanup.

its the fact that you cant refine the nurbs lattice on one part without refining it everywhere else. i tried to do a human head once. and got really stuck at the nose. because of the amout of detail there was. and that detail was carried into the cheeks and the skull, making it unneccesarily complicated.
Los Pescados

Modeling heads in NURBS is an art in and of itself, heh.
