How do I capture from an avi movie? I'm playing the avi file in Windows Media player, but when I pressed print screen or use any screen capture software, the image of the video is blank. Any ideas? Thanks.

Btw, I'm on winXP.

Get a really really nice digital camera and take a picture of your monitor... :D

Seriously, I don't get WHY it doesnt work with Printscreen, but it must be some kind of protection crap... there are programs you can download that take pictures of movies from DVDs and stuff, search google for one

Yeah, I've noticed the same problem on Win98, whether I use Windows Media Player or WinAmp to play my video.

Good god, finally....i got it. Apparently to capture images from video files (avi, mpeg etc) you need a screen capture software than can capture DirectX images.

After a lot of time spent on searching, downloading and trying out different screen capture softwares, finally I found this:

"HyperSnap-DX is a screen capture and image editing tool for MS Windows. It captures screens from standard desktop programs and even those hard-to-grab DirectX, Direct3D, 3Dfx Voodoo and Glide mode games." www.hyperionics.com

That did the trick.

Disable hardware acceleration in media player and try again with print screen.
