I have people bustling in and out of my house all the time...when we get bored we tend to boot up the PS2...I need some better 2 player games because we're getting tired of baseball and golf and Tony Hawk 3...any suggestions? I have SSX, GT3, GTA Vice City (fun for many though its 1 player), Twisted Metal Black and a basketball game

if you want a console FPS, consider one of the timesplitters games. i played the first, and it is pretty fun.

if you can stnad the soap opera and big sweaty guys in spandex, try a wrestling game. i am not really a fan (my cousin is obsessed though) but the smackdown games at least had great gameplay, and were fun to play through a "season" in.

crash team racing (for the PSX, but still playable) is probably the best multiplayer game i ever played short of mario tennis (and that is for the gamecube). also good for SP.

if you are looking for a fighting game, it really depends on what you want. you can never go wrong with a street fighter game, but i prefer the Tekken games since they are more "realistic". i don't mean as in you take location damage. i mean that you don't need to memorize 5000 buttons to win. you can make your own combos (some of the best tactics is to avoid the button combos, and make your own) since they move fluidly from attack to attack. in fact, i have yet to see any of the long button combos be even useful.

YES! get Timesplitters 2, it kicks ass.

Some GREAT FPS games are Red Faction 2 and Tribes: Aerial Assault.

both have a ****ing awesome multiplayer game, Tribes: AA would have to take the cake though, you can drive 4 different vehicles, and it's the 2nd best console game out there in my book, with first being Halo but that for the Xbox.

Mmm...Timesplitters 2 looks interesting, though I wish it were coop like Halo...Tribes looks meh because I dont want online PS2 games...don't like the fighting genre much either

A wrestling game maybe, though I've got one for PS1

Thanks for the suggestions though...keep em coming!

Football games are always awesome. Hockey can be good too, and soccer is sweet.

Some of the Rally games are pretty good as well.

Wait... Timesplitters 2 DOES have co-op play. Its only two player, but still. :)

Dead or Alive 2 tag battles are awesome, especially when people get a bit of practice.

Zone of the Enders multiplayer is fun, but again, practice needed (you get multiplayer when you beat the gam, beat it twice for extra mp levels)

Try the survival horror drinking game, rent out Prject Zero, it'll scare you soooo bad (unless your blind drunk before the first ghosts show up)

Mmmm...Midnight Club2 and Burnout 2 are just racing? Or is Burnout 2 just crashing cars into things? I can "race" with GTA3 or GT3, and crash into things in both those games too :p

May look into this Timesplitters game though

genius!! midnight club 2, Gran Turismo 3 (rally race 4 teh win!), tekken 4, NHL 2001 (8 player action if you want), NBA Street 2 (awesome), 989 world tour soccer, amplitude, frequency

NBA Street 2 (awesome)

NBA Street 2 is awesome and the same goes with NHL Hitz 2003. They are both non-realistic with fast paced pure arcade fun.

Midnight Club 2 is more like free roam 3D racing because you have the ability to travel the whole city wherever you want and choose who you want to race with by flashing your high beams at them. And not only is it start to finish racing but it features online play and normal split screen play with game modes such as detonation(carry bomb to destination while other cars chase you to make you explode) and even capture the flag. Give it a rent, at the least.

Ok, no, youre sister jacked it, she just lives in your house. And I'm going to beat you senseless with a fiddle if you dont caugh it up.
Get your multi-tap out, play 4 player, no bots, DM, Junkyard, Snipers only, one shot kill, 10 kill limit. Tense, to say the least. Its not like instagib, its more about stealth.

Ace Combat 04, all the multiplayer modes are great. It may start out as something of a clunker, but once you unlock the better planes, and the later missions, total ownage.

That sounds pretty cool about Midnight Club 2...can 2 people roam the city at the same time? Because if so that kicks ass...kinda like a multiplayer GTA or something if you get my drift.

And LHABulldog, what are you talking about with that DM Junkyard stuff? :con:

My friend has NBA Street 1 and we got bored of that quickly, so i'm ruling out Street 2

yes, Time Splitters 2 has multiplayer deathmatch and a 2 player co-op mode. You play as two time-traveling agents and you go back in time to many different places, like 1930s Chicago where you get classic weapons like the Tommy gun, and you have to eliminate a mob boss.

The gameplay is a lot like Goldeneye for N64 (Thats not a bad thing, trust me), and it's very fun.

Trust me you will be hooked on this game. It kicks ass.

BTW Shock you can also play 2-player split screen on Tribes. It's really fun

One of the best multiplayer games I've found for any system is Armored Core 3. It's a third-person mission-based mech game.

Every aspect of your mech is customizable. As you complete single-player missions, you get more money to purchase new parts for your mech. There is a huge variety when it comes to mech parts. There is also no one design that you can rely on to win everything.

The versus mode is where it really shines. It allows for up to 4 players (if you have 2 PS2's). You load up your single-player profile and can choose from whatever parts you purchased or found to kill each other with. Really great fun :D

From the reviews I've read Midnight Club 2 is multiplayer only online...I don't want/have online PS2 capabilities, so I guess I can rule that out...is there a 2 player roam the city/cruise mode/ whatever you call it though? That would be so kickass...like a multiplayer vice city just driving around (I said the exact same thing up there huh lol)

Best game on the PS2.

LOL, that game is hard, but fun and addictive. I'm pretty far, but I still get really pissed off sometimes because those damn arena bots. I'm at rank B1.

No it has split screen too.

Edit - and yes you are free to roam the cities in multiplayer though you can never get out of the car and beat people up =/ If you're not sure about the game give it a rent. It's pretty neat.
