I'm completely new to this, I have no idea where or how to start, and there's so much going on in these codes that It's hard to take it all in. *Sighs* I'm overwhelmed, I'm intimidated, confused, just in general frustrated. Don't know where to start, how to start, how to learn this stuff. ungh....

well, first of all, which game in the series are you wanting to program stuff for? Second, what are you interested in trying to create? think small for now.

Unreal Tournament. I think a good place to start would be making the enforcers change clips... *Grins*

off topic: Im glad you asked in here. Some of the folks in the general coding section have been coding however long youve been coding ++, so they get a bit annoyed whenever someone asks a question that even suggests being new to the whole deal. Youll definately get better results in this forum... Plus there are some really good (FRIENDLY!) people who dont mind the extra regulars :)
On Topic: I havent coded for UT99 for ages, but the best places to check out any tutorials are at WoD and www.unrealscript.com, any help beyond that is... well... beyond me

actually, I think there's a tutorial on reloading enforcers on Chimeric somewhere too (unrealscript.com) :D

well, I know there's one somewhere. :p I'd try assembling one of the guns they have a tutorial for there anyway, to get a bit more experience under your belt. Most tutorial guns don't take long to make anyway.

Personally I wouldn't start with the enforcers, cuz they have that crazy akimbo stuff in there. I think the flak cannon's the easiest to get started with. The way I got started was opening up UEd and messing with the flak cannon. Made it shoot tons more flak. What took me the longest to figure out was how to actually save it. :p

Sounds good to me.
A big problem I have, though, is even though I know what all of the blue means, I still can't read the code. And if you can't read it, you can't write it...
