No, all you have to do is replace a dll file called UXTheme.dll with a patched one and you are free to use any style xp themes.

If you have SP2 you can get it here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Themes/UXTheme-Patch-For-Windows-XP-SP2-Final.shtml

If you are skeptical just search around google for uxtheme.dll patch and you will get millions of responses. It's all over the internets.

Can I mention GNOME's brilliant integration? I just started using some new things:
This shot led me to cleaning up my desktop. I moved my SSH links to networkservers (which was originally in the new 'Places' menu for gnome 2.10) and made a link to that instead on my desktop as you can see. I resized some icons and took the screenshot. Now in the screenshot dialog, I just typed hoary.png and clicked the dropdown list... it listed the SSH server on g-lite.kochen.nl. *click* *poof* Yay! :D

Edit: So BU doesn't thumbnail, created one myself. Unfortunatly, The GIMP doesn't support the same thing from the screenshot dialog when saving. It was still a matter of only opening the ssh server in the file browser and dragging it though. :p

Now I just need to find a music player that can handle modules (umx, s3m, it) and I can ditch XMMS forever too...

If you don't like XMMS because it's GTK1 (when everything else has migrated to GTK2 by now), I'm surprsied you haven't heard of BMP (http://beepmp.sf.net) yet.

If you simply don't like XMMS because of the way it works (the "Winamp-like" model), your options are not quite as obvious.
Mikmod has its own commandline player, so that's an option.
I think Rhythmbox also can support mods assuming you have the proper gstreamer plugins installed. But since you use KDE, you probably won't want the GTK2/GNOME stuff it will invariably pull in since it's fairly integrated with GNOME.
Totem also seems to support mods (atleast with the gstreamer backend), although neither seeking nor visualization work properly when playing mods. But it's also fairly tightly integrated with GNOME.

Have you tried JuK or amaroK? I'm more of a GNOME/GTK guy so I haven't tried playing mods in either player. amaroK has a gstreamer backend, so it should be possible for it to support mods.

Keep an eye out on BMP though, it's a very promising project that's going to be more than just a simple GTK+2 port of XMMS.

Oh I went here http://browse.deviantart.com/ and just chose what your catergory is and there you go and there free most of the you have to have winstyler or the sort. (thats where I got my theme at actually thats where I got my winamp theme XP logon screen, XP Bootscreen, and my cursor themes you cant see my cursor though but every theme I'm currently using matches my desktop theme. They are all free to so have at it, and glad to be of some help. (cursor themes you need to download cursorXP to use them) :tup:

hmm. I haven't tried installing Style XP in a long time (over a year, with version 1). I don't remember having any problems with it. I've dl'd the new version, and a bunch of themes, but haven't had time to get on the home comp. I think some themes require something like Style XP to work, and not just the .dll hack. I dunno, I'll try without Style XP first when I have a chance.

Well if you follow the link t2a linked to you will find that there is a whole category of themes on deviantart only for that .dll hack. They don't use seperate programs or anything and it works like a charm when you just put in the files and runs the .msstyle file and save the setings as a theme for later changing etc.

Nah it's in Portes du Soleil (Avoriaz/Morzine/LesCrosets) near my house :p In the background is a run called "Mur Suisse" which is a orange run (basically a lot harder and steeper than any black run - it doesn't look as bad on the photo as it is). A mate took the photo of me on the way to the Les Crosets park one morning after we just bombed it down there for a laugh ;)

I myself tried one of a 3d space flight in which the camera kinda slowly drifted around various space elements such as stations, asteroids, stars, etc.
