Go read some of those threads in the 2003 Archive....

Some of them are pretty funny.....in a looking back sorty way. :)

Where did all those people that used to post here go?

14th Jun 2003, 10:46 AM
I posted a few times

It seems we lost quite a few threads with the crash; I think basically all the ones that happened recently. I dropped 2,000 posts so it must have been a fair chunk of the threads I've posted in. :p

to introduce a new topic, can you believe it was so long ago that the forum crashed and was down for so long? What did all of us faithful BuFfers do with ourselves??

Some of the threads in the archive should be moved to the BUF classics for their eternal value in humor. ;)

well I know this one is already in the Classic, but Hedge and I read "Poop in outerspace?" thread by Morety today, and got quite a chuckle out of that.

I'm curious, does anyone know where the screenshots of the Nalis giving hot carls went to??

Not a nomination, but reading this speculative (pre-2k3 release) Link Gun thread is pretty amusing.

Heh... the link gun ended up being a real disappointment to me. Along with the ion-painter and some other weapons. Well, thats what UT2k4 is for, I guess. Out with the old, bring on the new!

4th Jan 2004, 10:50 AM
The only disapointment is that it isn't used very much.

I manage to link up with people the most in Geothermal. That might have something to do with the fact that it's one of the closest weapons to the flag.

Might be a lesson in there for you mappers?

Link's a pretty cool weapon when you can track well with the secondary.

4th Jan 2004, 06:04 PM
I'm always amazed that hardly anyone uses the link primary, as there aren't many ballistic weapons that do 30 damamge per shot

4th Jan 2004, 06:15 PM
Most people hardly use the link, and the primary shots are pretty easy to dodge, unless you're very close. But up close other weapons are better imo.

4th Jan 2004, 08:53 PM
I made some pretty wild speculations back before UT2003 was released. Like the "static meshes will kill the mapping community" post. Dunno if that one still exists though. :)

As for the crash I dropped about 5,000 posts and ended up with about 200. I think Pete did it on purpose.

4th Jan 2004, 09:04 PM
 that was exactly what happened to me! :)

5th Jan 2004, 03:58 AM
poor little spammers :(

5th Jan 2004, 10:08 AM
I lost several thousand posts too. In fact the majority of my posts were made in that year or so that got lost. The numbers that show next to my name aren't anywhere close to the real ones.

I'm still here...

5th Jan 2004, 10:59 AM
I miss the days when the post counts were hidden. It took the emphasis of post counts... ;)

5th Jan 2004, 11:21 AM
I really don't think it changed anything. If I saw someone I didn't know I'd just click on their profile and see it. Ya never know if some inf player got lost or something.

5th Jan 2004, 08:45 PM
!!! ain't that the truth :)

5th Jan 2004, 10:07 PM
You know. It actually did help, believe it or not.

Maybe it was just the time or the people, I don't know. But it is much better even now with them back on.

7th Jan 2004, 01:47 PM

What are you guys whinning about post counts for? I have maybe 1/8 or even 1/10 (or in the case of Hal, 1/100) of the posts as some of you guys, but I still feel cool about it. ;)

/me jumps back on topic (a rare event for me)

Hal, we've had a LOT of great threads in this forum, so I know that there's got to be come acceptable naminations. For the life of me, I can't think of any off the top of my head, which is odd, since I'm usually one of the first ones to jump into the goofing off. What thread was it that had the Nurse Flame and Dr. Webby?

Oh wait, that wasn't the original topic of this thread. Oops!
