Ok here's the deal ...I have an MSI Starforce 8831 video card (GeForce 2 Pro 64 mg) with an S-Video Tv-out port. I plugged it in my VCR , using a S-Video to RCA adapter but Windows (XP) can't detect the second screen (my tv). I think it's supposed to show up in the Display window under the Settings tab (where you can change your resolution/color depth). I used a program called TvTool 5.5 but it offer only crappy resolutions ( 800 x 600 on the TV and 320 x 200 or something on my screen ) and its only a shareware so I can't transmit succesfully over 10 minutes. (Which is quite a problem when you watch DVDs). Anyone has an idea ?

You do know what standard resolution is for TV right? Apparently not since you think 800x600 is bad.
A HDTV has a resolution of 768x576 and 100 Hz.
I'm betting you don't have one of those right.
If your having centering problems make sure your monitor is set at 800x600 as well when you turn on TV Out with TV Tool.
For Nvidia cards TV Tool is just about the only way to go since the Twinview drivers don't seem to work correctly...YET, maybe never.... so I guess buy TV Tool or get a full version some other way
Hope this helps...

768x576x100?? Are you in Europe or somethin? My HDTV, as well as many others, supports resolutions of 960x720, 60hz. 100hz is not standard, and also not standard 2x. Anyway, twinview works fine for me, but it takes alot of elbow grease to get it to work right.

Yes, I'm a european, we have better TV's.
On my Geforce 2 MX-400 i have TV-out through a Chrontel 7007 TV-Out chip, it enables TV output at a maximum resolution of 800 x 600. Some Geforce 3 cards have a Philips chip that has better picture quality but still at the same max resolution.
As far as I can find these are the official HDTV(Widescreen/DV/DVD) specs:
NTSC 720x480 (US)
PAL 768x576 (EURO, rest of the world)
And here's an interesting link on the Widescreen format.

Twinview is a pain. TV Tool on the other hand never fails.

NTSC 720x480 (US)
PAL 768x576 (EURO, rest of the world)
These are the standard resolutions. And AFAIK HDTV has a higher resoution.

Yes, indeed. NTSC based HDTV = 960x720, PAL based HDTV = Who gives a rat's ass?

Ok thanks for the info duders...I finally got it by telling windows that I have a TV instead of a screen :con: ...it works but i can't have both at the same time but i don't really care...resolution is ok. The only **** about this is that I have two black borders on each side ...I can't stretch the image so it fits the screen ...Anyone has a good app for this ?

The odds are, you don't have the highest resolution selected (if on NTSC TV). Just move the slider in the Settings option to the end, your TV will recognise it. Oh, and do you have the TwinView disabled option selected? It should be clone, as there is no reason your primary monitor cant be on at the same time as your secondary.
