For those about to alias:

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

For those of you, who like myself alias pubbing (the shame!) how often do you find that you are recognized... taking into account where you play could cause it more or less often. I am thinking it kind of points to a bad thing if you are recognized because that to me means you are predictable in your gamestyle and people match you up with how they see you play normally.

Hah, I hardly ever get recognised on servers, and I *dont* alias :)

More than a few times however, someone has said "hey, are you the lordkhaine from the bu/pu forums?.." I believe I first met Buscemi on an INF server and he recognised my name from the forums. On the other hand, when I played INF you get recognised all the time cos the community is smaller and more based around the forums. But then, I dont alias :)

I do when I play on TCR, mainly because I always use a tell-tale alias, my normal skin and I dont change binds.

On the other hand, there are about as many times I've been recognised on TCR as there are I haven't :D

I usually don't alias either, except I did play as Someone Else a few months ago for a while. I now play as SkaarjMaster and am SkaarjMaster just about everywhere else, except AIM (one of 9 million people took this one). If you see me online (not much lately though), I'm the one playing like he's the master of nothing. :D :) :trans::hmm:

I don't alias, don't really see the point. However, I do see a lot of people with really similar names to someone here at buf, and find myself wondering if they're the same person... but I leave the BuF tag on when I play, so I just wait and see if they say anything to me. I have seen some BuF'ers on random pubs though.

Why alias? Atleast now people recognize me from the name... If I were to alias then they'd think that it was just another n00bie...

hehe...Riiiiight.

It's that radar and aimbot that gives you away everytime ;) ( + playing style, comms, *sigh*'s 'teams's, ping + a preference for lavagiant....)

/me just can't be arsed saying anything.

I'm gonna have to try aliasing on TCR someday properly, and see who'll recognise me :)

right...

When I join TCR it is cos I want to play games with people I know. If 'Mr_n00b', 'A-Pimp', 'Alias' and 'MyPingSucks' are playing I will not join TCR.

It sucks that people who alias:
complain about everything and their mother.
single you out cos you wear a tag.
call you names cos you wear a tag.
accuse you of pingrape and other stuff, yet are too chicken to even reveal their real nick.
imbalance the teams.
won't bother to equalize the teams.
have no clue that the teams are imbalanced cos everyone is (playing) a nameless n00b.

If you use different nicks in clangames / pubgames for ngstats reason or whatever, that's fine, as long as I know who I am playing with.

Then again, I do not care for people who alias for I will not join them in a game. I do care if they join the game and start complaining / trashtalk / whatever.

If you wish to alias, please go to some anonymous 20+ people player limit server and go bash up newbs there. Don't go and join your so called friends, cos imho you are only insulting them and yourself then.

There is one reason I can think of to alias, and that is that you are so good that people will accuse you of anything, and consequently single you out / taunt you till you leave - if this is the only way you can enjoy a game, by using an alias cos of the abuse you otherwise have to take, so be it. But most people who alias aren't nowhere near good enough for this. If you alias cos you suck then think again - does it matter if you have a bad day?

i dont know what your experience has been SU but i dont alias for those reasons. mainly that if im having a rough day id prefer it not to reflect on me, and if i happen to be doing well i don't care about the rankings or even people seeing me play well in a non organized game. but i dont use aliasing as an excuse to get away with acting like an ass :\

/me remembers stillborn with SB, keg, flag and jumpboots in a league match....*wheeeeeeeeeee*

(though i have to admit i did the same ;)

To SU > if you ever see aImLeSS on a server, i'm practicing my aim :) also though, if i am aliasing (very rarely anyway) and i see someone i know, i'll tell them hi and who i am. I don't alias for bad reasons :) Sometimes i just don't wanna be me ;)

I agree with SU. When peeps play good on TCR I always ask who they really are. Usually the answer is XeneX :D
I hate playing someone who does really good andd not knowing who they are when I KNOW it's an alias.

I have aliased a bit in the past on pubs when I have been tryuing out binds or changed mouse sensitivity so peeps there wont think that Porn_Star d00dis a n00b.

/me wonders how long it will take someone to reply: 'but u are a n00b pr0n'
