My take on the Detonator 27.20 drivers.

The 27.10 XP/2000 drivers work wonders for me.

With the built in overclocker, and my Geforce 3 Ti200 pushed to 220MHz Core / 500 Memory, I can consitantly hit within 1% of the Geforce 3 Ti500 3DMark2001 score, and 6% of the ATI Radeon 8500.

So, thumbs up for the 27.10 drivers from me.

sorry, im a total n00b here...

how can you edit the settings of the detonator drivers?

When i got this computer i updated all the drivers straight away, with this i dled the newest xp drivers (from the nvidia site) for the nvidia card, then dled the detonator drivers. Installed both...

wheres the control panel for the detonators?

perfomance didnt change between the updating of the drivers.

so i assumed that they were at peak already!!

am i missing something??

To change any video card settings, right mouse click on your screen, select "properties" go to the "settings" tab and select "advanced",you should see a bunch of tabs, one of which will be labeled "GeForce ...something :D " In there are all kinds of settings for your card. The drivers I think, and hope you downloaded are under the windows XP tab of the driver downloads on nvidia's website.

It won't say Detonator, that's NVidia's name for thier driver line, based off the fact that it came out originally for the TNT line of cards.

The last four numbers of those files listed are what's important. They're telling you that you have the "23.11" drivers installed, several of these individual files are actually labeled as "2312" as an update to a small bugfix they added.

Zen, I'd definitely go find the 27.10s and try them over the 27.20s first, as the 27.10s are NVidia's betas, whereas the 27.20s are MSI's betas.

The 27.10's were worse.I really need a GeForce 3,I think,I cant even get RTCW or medal of honor to run right on this mobo.

yeah, but I don't understand what happened with either of them.In UT my framerate drops so much my mouse freezes!Reason I'm playing with drivers,is that in Wolfenstein and now the new medal of honor Im getting a frame stutter during action sequences, like a framerate drop off. This new mobo should have increased my performance, not made it worse....

Most likely what's happenning is that NVidia is shifting their driver optimization to focus on the GeForce 3 and 4 line, which of course will cause some loss in performance in older cards.

It's similiar to why no one runs any of the earlier 2x.xx line on TNT2's, and instead get better performance out of 1x.xx and lower drivers.

Krystal, what those numbers are doing is comparing the performance of your actual system, with that of the average for both the card you have, along with their current top of the line.

So, your system's card's performance is at 100% of that recorded for NVidia's stock card for that video card type.

Whereas their top of the line card, the Ti500 performs 243% (or 2.43 times) better than your current card.

Zen, I think the lack of difference you're seeing in performance has to do with the fact that the benchmarks you're using rely almost entirely on the card itself.

That and the fact that your CPU is now the bottleneck in the system.
