How much do you think Unreal 2s engine will differ from UTs? Because I am most likely going to take up coding in U2.

A perfect opportunity to p1mp Tetris L's Unofficial U2 FAQ (http://cleaned.beyondunreal.com/) and it's move here to BeyondUnreal.
Your answer can be found here (http://cleaned.beyondunreal.com/U2FAQ/U2FAQ.htm) in the TECH and ENGINE sections.

And a hella nice faq it is :)
The latest UT build is 436. The last tech review (the one on Anandtech) said the engine was at like 848. So - a lot different.

U2 and UT2 engine will differ in some respects (particle systems, model animation system, bot AI, ...). It won't be a no-brainer to port mods from UT2 to U2 and vice-versa.
I'm not sure about difference in coding. I assume the basic UScript language is the same. But for example I know that Legend added a special bot AI script language on top of UScript.

Stupid me. I just re-read your post and realized you're talking about UT, not UT2. In that case: What hal said. :)
